I really have no idea why Sly felt the need to chip in. If people believe his competition may provide better sounds, great. No need to mock them for it. And, let's be honest, they're probably Sly's customers, too.

Just Trains, I look forward to your release. Wish I'd had the willpower to hold back previously.
Hiya

My comments were quite simply reference to the fact that the combined clips contain 14 secs of discernable engine sound.. and a continuous sound at that to... no tickover, starting acceleration , grunt , overrun etc etc.

And then some make rave comments....... perhaps they wonder why their opinions are not valued by some developers .

apologies for hijacking the post.. there wil be no more comments on it here from me. but quite prepared to discuss it in a seperate thread.. :D

Hiya,
Just like to say it is a forum and anyone can 'chip in' as you say.
I'd like to say the locos and wagons look great, I can not tell anything about the sounds from that Youtube clip shown but I'm sure Just will have done a fine job.

regards

Derek

None of us are daft

As for the 20 itself, the proof of the pudding will be in eating, of course. And no doubt the sounds will be in the eye - nay, ear - of the beholder.

It is now possible to have working multiple player engine sounds in RailWorks. See my recent GP7 upload for how this can be done. I'm currently doing an update for the HST which provides rear power car sound response and dynamic exhaust. JustTrains may be employing similar scripting techniques in this locomotive.

Further details of the Class 20 and new screenshots have been released.

Looks like the release might be getting very close.

Nice one. Been looking forward to this for a while.

A good number of scenarios included, and I like that they've included some for Newcastle to York Modern too.

I've bought several add ons but definitely shan't be buying the Just Trains Class 20. There may be 10 different liveries, 12 scenarios and the FEA-F RHTT (Rail Head Treatment Train) and the FNA Nuclear Flask carrier but the price is an excessively hefty £19.99. (http://www.justtrains.net/product.asp?pid=488) RailWorks itself is only £19.99 from Amazon. The scenarios and other add ons are of no interest to me and the different liveries matter very little.

Paul's (Sly's ) version meanwhile may only include 2 versions in blue a HEA 2-Axle Coal Hopper and 4 scenarios but then it is a sensible £9.99. Contest over!

I have Sly's version but I also will be buying the JT version without hesitation.

Have you seen those screenshots?? especially the cab, incredible attention to detail, right down to the fastenings on panels and even a tea urn on the stove! If the screenies are anything to go by it seems the bar has been raised yet again in the cab department. It looks like this could be an absolute belter and maybe one of the best yet.

Hi.
This looks a superb pack, but alas out of my price range, and i expect a lot of other peoples too,if this is the price for a loco pack,i wonder what price will be asked for a top class route,i guess at least £40 minimum, with the work needed on a route, compared to a loco.

To be honest, the timescales are probably not that much different as there is no doubt the Class 20 pack has taken an unbelievable amount of time to get it right, something I can really sympathise with on my current project, equally as stunning in my eyes (my opinion of course but you will like it too). The top and bottom of it is, to achieve a high standard with route or stock creation, the similarities are not as far apart as it would seem in terms of timescale.

I can understand that for some people £20 is a lot of money, but if you compare it to the cost of, say, a new railway/train DVD, the price is very similar. As with railway DVDs, there is only a limited audience for RailWorks and moreso for the various addons. I trust that what I will get from Just Trains will be of the highest quality and will provide many more hours of entertainment than the aforementioned DVD, so this is better value for money. I have Sly's class 20 too, and have been very happy with it, but I am also keen to see what JT have done with their model, and to have the extra rolling stock in this pack.
