I suspect the problem is with trackwork rather than rolling stock/scenary.

There is a rather strange piece of track that is unpathable just north of newport on the line to medina (at around 267, 8, 538). Examining the track piece shows no reason why it would fail - it is in the same track rule, same direction rules. The only thing different about it was the bed rumble type (IOW Tunnel instead of IOW Standard Ballast), changing that didn't allow it to be pathed through though.

I've tried deleting the segment and recreating it, but still, it can't be pathed through. Perhaps there is some missing-asset track piece there? or perhaps it's something else? I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if that is the kind of thing that is causing problems.

Hi NiKKiA
iv'e had a look at the fault that you brought up , & i'm sorry, but i cant find a fault in the track that my cause the problem , have you tried reinstalling the route, this may be reason for the oddity,
has anybody else had this problem ,please let us know ?.

We have nearly finished the Railworks version of the rote, the save key works, but it crashes when you try to continue. at least you can save your scenarios now,
all i can say is its still being looked into for a solution.
On the up side, none of the lines are longer than 10 miles, and the hole of the neTwork is only 55 miles.
Regards
Ian

Just reinstalled and tried again, it failed to path again, but then I changed the service type to special, and it is able to path in that situation, but not in any freight setting.

Edit to add:

And now it won't load any scenario I create on this route, crashes railworks with a 'unexpected chunk' error. I guess I'll wait for the updated version and hope it works then.

Hiya,

Like Ian says we are dealing with this problem and will be rectified. This will help me, because I have a whole batch of scenarios ready to go for the route, which are 'real life' as they were in the '40's to '66.

Hi have run the route again, and it crashed so i removed the atomatic leval crossing gates, after Mill Hill Station, and ran it again, the path is doing as it should do now, please try it and let me know if it works on your Pc

Hi NikkiA,

Ian has sent me the patch, and it didn't work for me either. I have emailed him with a suggestion towards the level crossings. I am spending the day, vigoursly testing this route and see where the bugs are, and try to help him out as much as possible.

I know it is a pain that there is a problem with the saving / creating scenarios, but please bear with us, we will get there, as this is a cracking route, with lots of scope for it, not that I am biased as I live on the Isle of Wight!!

Kind Regards,
Justin Ford

P.S If anyone would like an in-game chat on Railworks, espically with the IOW Network route, on STEAM, please add me as: justinsammy1976

Looking through the Network folder tiles it's apparent that you have used a large number of track rules in the route, which is not recommended. Perhaps you could try a search and replace in the problem tiles to swap out the extraneous track rules.

Hi All
I have tried & tried to sort out this fault with the F2 Save key, and i have lost the will to live, so I've sent a dump file to RSDL for assistance with this problem.
I'm in the process of replacing the problematic points, which are giving pathing difficulties in scenarios.
i will keep you informed, as the gremlins are dealt with.

Ian

Morning all,

Ian the author of the route has given me a 'patch' file for me to do massive testing on the new points sets for scenarios etc. I will be testing various locations and we will see how we go from there!!

I see that the upgrades are now available on Just Trains http://www.justtrains.net/RailWorksCompatibility.asp for both the boxed version and the manual download, however, it doesn't make it clear exactly what is in these upgrades and at over 300mb each, I'm sure many of us would like a breakdown of what's actually inside these before we input them onto our hard-drives.

Hi Ian.

Re the F2 save problem I have some info which might ( or might not ) help

I am running IOW 3.0 with RW on a HP Laptop running fully updated Vista.

I have installed all of the required asstes and most of the required rolling stock.
Consists with the rolling stock I do not have I have removed with RW Tools.

The first point I found was that I could not use the existing Free Roam Scenarion as supplied with v 3.0 in Play mode. The program always failed before fully loading with the normal error message.
I then constructed my own scenario using rail vehicles that have operated Ok in other routes and have been able to traversed all of the main tracks wiithout problem ( though my computer is not really up to this level of detail giving only 12 fps in the densly assetted areas )

I must say that the level of detailing is excellent. v. good route.

I am able to Save using F2 and Continue as expected in the Ryde Peir Head to Smallbrook junction section of track. Hovever, though I could apparently Save with F2 in all other track locations I always got one of the following errors when attempting to Continue.

Error Unknown version of serialised binary file
..\API/core/cFxException.h
Line 113

Error Unexpected Chuck file
..\API/core/cFxException.h
Line 113

As I suspected that the Save error was related to the tile the consist was on when saving I investigated by placing track and consists on many tiles not currently having track.

I found that the F2 Save and Continue worked correctly for the blocks of tiles
-000000, +000003 to -000005, +000003
-000000,+000004 to -000005,+000004
and tile -000002,+000005

Saving with track on all other tiles I tried outside of the above range, whether to East, West or South, failed.

I looked at various .bin files to compare good tile with bad but nothing was obvious. By now I was well out of my depth.

During a check of one of the bin files with RW Tools for the tile giving a fault I got

Error Badly formed XML document.
FILE /API/core/cFXEception.h
Line 113

and that bin file did not load. Unfortunately I did not make a note or the file which gave this error

I loaded the route with Log Mate activated and found vast number of entries, many relating to assets I did not have installed and ( according to RW Tools ) were not used in the route.
These assets I found refered to in the RouteProperties.xml file.
I removed the unwanted assets from this file , which cleared a lot of the entries in LogMate but there are still many left.

This is as far as I can go, now completely lost.

In 'What has happened ' topic Andy ( OrpheusRocker ) states 'The missing blueprints are route marker files missing from attempting to use objects from the IOW libraries.'

Am gettin a new, much faster computer soon, so if I can be of any help let me know
Norman

Hi Clockmaker,

I am in the process of talking with Ian, and he is doing me a whole new batch of Assets for the IOW route V3 for RW, we belive that since the update of RW last week, it has caused numerous problems with stock and assets from RS to RW will not work correctly. I am waiting for another batch of assets to come through now, install them on RW, fire up the route and test to see if 1) if it loads and 2) if works!!
