Re: IoW Network 3.0
It is a fantastic representation of the fascinating Isle of Wight railway system as it was and should have stayed.....mostly! Newport is particularly superb! Well done to Ian and his great team!!

Re: IoW Network 3.0
****UPDATE****
I have just tested the route and modified 2 scenarios. For those who have V3 of the route, there was a scenario called Ventnor West to Merstone Junction, well this has been updated due to 'traffic' problems at Merstone Junction, this has been rectified. Also Bembridge to Brading scenario has been update too. These will be included in the route.
Thank you once again for your comments on here, the wait is now nearly over, thank god we managed to save the route, before total chaos happened, but we have done it!!
Till the next update or Route Upload.....

Looking forward to V3, it's the reason I still use Railworks.

Re: IoW Network 3.0
Thanks in advance for V4.
Personally I am looking forward to V23 - the one where I can leave a train at Ventnor Station and wander through the town - possibly do a bit of shopping or have a drink (only if I am off duty of course) - to Ventnor West Station and get on another train. Everything modelled to 99% accuracy. (99% because I don't like to ask for too much

Re: IoW Network 3.0
Afternoon people!!
First of all, Ian is due back form holiday tomorrow, hence no route uploaded to UKTrainsim. Secondly, this has given me time to make and test and test again some scenarios for the route. Now, due to the terrier engine only having 600 gallon water tank, I did a scenario from Ryde St Johns Road to Medina Wharf, this is cancelled due to running out of water 0.3 mile away from Newport!! Was not impressed!! :bad-words:
So, I had to do the worst thing possible and use an Ivatt 2-6-0T loco, which holds far more water!! With that in mind these locos are used for passenger services, and use the terriers for AI traffic and Branch line work. On this note you will need from Kngtrains the Ivatt Class locomotive.

Re: IoW Network 3.0
In case anyone thinks that an Ivatt 2-6-2T has never run on on the Island a photo taken in 2008 is attached. However, this was only rolled along the preserved line for gauging trials ready for the day when there will be two of these locos operating.
As steam neared its end on the Island in BR days Standard 2-6-2 tank engines of very similar design were being modified for use over here, so with only a small stretch of the imagination they will be suitable for use on V4 of the simulated route.

Re: IoW Network 3.0
There was something in Railway Magazine or somesuch publication that says BR was going to take some over to the island, but gave up on it. That the drawings for the air pumps to run on the railway were actually prepared, and the IOW steam railway came by the drawings, intending to use them to mod these locomotives as BR intended.layfieldj wrote:In case anyone thinks that an Ivatt 2-6-2T has never run on on the Island a photo taken in 2008 is attached. So agreed, an ivatt 2-6-2 is entirely historical. Its just taking a bit longer than expected. Thats BR for you!

Re: IoW Network 3.0
Morning all,
I have a day off from work today, so I will be concentrating on finishing scenarios, ready for Ian to start the upload of the route this evening.
Ian managed to sort out a problem we had at Ventnor West, which pardon the pun had been bugging me, but it is all sorted now.
I have tested the lines between Cowes, Newport, Ryde, Bembridge, Ventnor, Ventnor West, Sandown. The Freshwater branch is driveable, but the line needs upgrading, but I believe this is in the process of happening.
I will do a scenario for this branch to be included, so people can drive on it.
I'm sure either myself or Ian will update later on today!!!
