HiAll
I will post some screenies for you on my skydrive link.
The new track has been installed between Cowes, Newport & smallbrook, the scenery is finished also along that section of the network, you will see a major rebuild of Newport with new buildings & viaducts, the signalling is pro typical of the 1945.50s from Ryde to Ventnor, Cowes to Shide ,& Newport to Smallbrook.
All that's left is testing of the new track & signalling, before it goes back to Mark & Jeff for minor alterations.
Best Regards
Ian and the Team

Hi All

Jeff, did mention that someone is building a N7, which is very similar to a 02.
The railway was thinking of going over to Ivatts 2MT Tank locos, for a replacement for the 02s (UKTS ID 18448).

IIRC an O2 is sitting in RS.com somewhere, they just didn't have any sounds that they could use. Now that Calbourne is back in action perhaps a Railworks version may finally arrive!

I have had a couple of goes on the route and it is fantastic! Kudos to all who worked on it.

What ? ? ? ! ! !

An N7 was a Great Eastern 0-6-2T dating from 1927, with Westinghouse air brakes - an O2 was a London and South Western 0-4-4T dating from 1889 with vacuum brakes. No similarity.

Compare http://alan-lewis-chambers.fotopic.net/p18623765.html and http://alan-lewis-chambers.fotopic.net/p11043613.html .

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Hi All,

Ian meant the LSWR M7, one presumes which Longbow (David Gibbons) is progressing. Not too long ago Derek S said that he had plans of an O2 in front of him, but I suspect that they're so covered in a film of tea and biscuit crumbs that he can't read them.

Hi Jeff

An M7 makes more sense, although a rather beefier loco than O2 - 60 tons compared to 46 tons.

For a comparison here is an M7 http://alan-lewis-chambers.fotopic.net/p11053159.html - I've linked to a photo of an O2 in my previous post.

I think Derek's O2 will be a 1950s diesel shunter - not a Victorian steam engine.

Alan -See Derek's post of 18th August - He then had plans of Fishbourne on his desk - not a diesel shunter!

Fully agree but for one thing -- the IOW 02s did have air brakes, thats how they were used to test the LU stock when it first arrived on the Island - and if you go there now, it seems strange listening to a Terrier`s air pump thunping away prior to departure from Smallbrook

Indeed all twenty three O2s sent to the Island in SR/BR days were fitted with Westinghouse air brakes, probably because SR had a lot spare since they had been standard on the LBSCR.

All passenger locos running on the preserved line have the same for authenticity. The sole remaining O2 -w24 Calbourne is now back in service with the pump happily beating away. Incidentally Pete Waterman and David Shepherd were over here last Friday 8th October for a dedication ceremony on Calbourne re-entering service.

I live and learn. The only O2's I saw were in the south west, vacuum brake territory, but I grew up on the ex-GER lines out of Liverpool Street, where everything took place to a background of Westinghouse pump noise.

Evening all!!

I'm back!! Apologises fr seeming to be distant thrughtout the back end of the Summer, my full-time job kept me very busy to do anything in my spare time. Now, with the arrival of Railworks 2 (some time this evening...!!!) I will be extensively testing the route this week to make sure 1) It works! 2) To re-do scenario work with improvements.

Nice to be back!!
