Just got it, looks great!

One slight thing I saw - on power car number one, the right hand side number is back to front (like looking in a mirror) - other than that, really interesting additon, thanks to you and all involved......

Nope.

I would have thought it would be a bitch to try and model the interiors -- I managed to get a couple of minutes with the actual NMT on King's Cross platform a couple of months back.

It was dark and the crew were prepping tests so they had the interior lights on and one could actually see through the privacy glass for once. There is a *lot* of equipment in most of these coaches, predominantly rack-mounted scientific equipment but what looked like a fair bit of compute power and storage, networking, etc. also. There is a "lounge" area in one of them, so I guess one could model that...

Unfortunately, it really was a couple of minutes and I didn't have a camera, only the rubbish 1.2Mp thing on my Nokia 'phone, so all I got was one snap of the rear power car (the buffered end) and a brief bit (25 seconds) of really low quality video as she departed :-?

Still, the model is very nice and a credit to Zane, David and the RSC boys for getting it together.

Rik.

Nothing can be done about that. It's the way the HST powercar is mapped.

Ah ha, I see, fair enough, won't spoil the enjoyment.....

It was the same on my modern route. The NXEC buffet car couldnt be done because the stripes would look wrong and the White Stripe buffet car is unbranded.

I was always curious about why people didn't do the complete sets.

The HST was mapped in a very odd way (before my time at Kuju I'm afraid.) The guy who made it is a top artist but really did not think that one through.
While I know what is wrong with it I do not want to go in and pull it apart, Sorry.
Never say never of course.

Here is a link to the repaint in case people missed it.

I would also like to draw to your attention that my Mk2 repaints have been designed to match the NMT and can be used to create the prototypical original set reasonably well.

This is perhaps the most complex simple repaint that I have done. I did try to obtain shots of each side of each carriage in the set and recreate it as accurately as possible. It isn’t perfect as the correct windows are not blocked etc. It is as close using the default assets though. (Check out the coach window surrounds!-one is missing as per the prototype)

As to the actual paints, the Class 43 is pretty much perfect, easy to repaint and looks great whatever (some models need detailed and carefully done repaints to look right -Cl60 is a good example of this- but this one doesn’t). The rear part is mirrored on one side though as there is only one paint for both sides. The front part is doubled up so it can be different on both sides. Not really a problem but text behind the grill cant be effectively done. It is rare to be there though so its fine.

(Little bit of background about the coaches first. There are two types-one modern with CDL lights and one without. The modern ones unfortunately have an strip across the top which is defined on the paint in less than 16 pixels or so-16 PIXELS FOR THE ENTIRE LENGTH ON THE CARRIAGE  . The TSO, BUffet and TFO come in both but the TGS comes in a hybrid between the two-EASY!)

The coaches are another matter. The TSO and TFO are not bad but the TGS is a pain as it is actually two carriage paints and the Buffet has complete mapping issues. Some paints are possible, some branding is possible but you should never get your hopes up. It is pain and a half. I did my best with them lets say. The carriages were mapped for the default models- that is why they work but were not done in a manner flexible enough for repaints

Some day I hope they get remapped a bit (TGS and Buffet) and we get a revised roof and buffers for loco hauled sets and a sleeper set so the flakey Night Riviera can be created for use on the GWML.
