If i choose online mode my internet connection has no problems and I can play all day on the railway, select offline and my internet connection may be causeing the problem...... RIGHT, like I have just changed my internet connection....... Me thinks "Something BAD has Happened" now if only I could get a dumpfile of it

Went to www. chuff chuff toot toot and was confronted with their usual which game do you want to buy next screen, so its more time wasting to find any realivant info. which I cant be bothered doing

And all I want to do is what I was able to do last wednesday. or am I missing something here????????????

Same problem

Not trying to Hijack this thread but seeing if it's related.

This happened at work, then at home. In and out of RW's but leave the launcher window open. Do some painting, then run RW's to check my repaint progress etc. 4 times today doing this a dialog box popped up saying "Please login to Steam" when trying to launch Railworks. Thing is, I was already logged into Steam. I had to close the launcher and relaunch it to run the game.

Need a patch for the patch;



Can't get past the nag window, it won't launch in offline mode at all.

Works fine..

Perhaps you have previously deleted the temp files on the computer.
First of steam must then go back online again after that to generate the offline operation.

I have the same problem but am snookered because I have no backup to revert to.
After updating, I had a problem merging tracks which I managed to overcome but I went online to 'verify the integrity of the game cache' in case some files were missing (there were). Ever since, can't run online.

Its not a fault in RW. It the Steam client, that has updated, and dont allow offline play anymore. Not only for RW but for all games bought through Steam

Sorry. Should have said 'can't run OFFLINE'.

I Think Steam has changed the way to arrange to play offline. Go to the System Tray and click on the Steam Icon. Select Games. When that window opens click on File and in the drop down menu there is the option to go Off line. You have to be ' Online ' to go Offline. Hope that helps. Norman

Valve hasn't changed nothing... it is a bug.

Nothing new here, that method of doing things has always been there as well as offline mode being used if you start Steam and no connection is present. As said above, this cannot connect thing is a bug and normal service as was before will be coming back soon.

Just in case you are interested - there is an option to go offline on STEAM as before - but at your own risk - beta version

go to settings tab on your STEAM games page - select participate in the beta program, select steam client beta from the drop down list; follow instructions.


Thereis also a tab now to report any problems.(in the settings dialogue)

I have been giving it a go - no trouble so far with railworks (except the published program with 'merging' etc of track)

p.s remember to change your settings back when the official steam client update is released.

Update - Steam offline now - works - I have been auto transferred back to official steam client from the beta program..

30 seconds ago, logged onto steam page and it automatically updated. Can now run offline - hooray
