DK2000E

Post by bab7000 »

Now it's possible to download DK2000E from http://www.train-sim.org.

The logmate error from Version D is fixed.
The german city of Flensburg is added.
All rolling stock is changed to standard RW rolling stock.
Optimized loading time

The longest route for RailWorks is now longer, and covers over 500 miles of track :) Get it before your neighbour ;)

Just trying to take a first peek at this route. Took a free roam at Odense and received a crash notification of failed to create a vertex buffer along with an odd-looking beta path, curious.

Looked great before it froze as I tried to look around, though :D

I tried what you did and started at Odense flew up and down the line in both directions to look around, came back and selected the Black loco and drove at full speed all the way (225kph) to Karstad ( I think ). No problems found and it ran quite smoothly I must say. Well done :)

edit - I was also jumping about using the different views and 2d map during all of this run.

Ah, it seems it's related to the object detail setting for me. Works fine on medium. Possibly the same problem that many of us had with one particular area in Wales & Borders.

Looks like a cracking route thanks, Bab.

I'm afraid that it is something, we have to live with, until RS.com get a patch out.
It seems, thats instead of being slow, RW simply craches, if you dont have a highend computer, while using max details :)
Lowering the details also lowering the rate of craches ;)

With raildriver's guide: Enabled fps 20
Disabled fps 60

Why so much difference?

You dont have to replace them. Its an error in RWTools. It cant figure out the danish and german letters. The things is shown in the route anyway.

First tap in the drivers aid (F3) takes about 50% off your FPS. Try using one of the other taps.

1.Only rwtools question is answered.

2.I find it not a very satisfactory answer because I don't have this fps trouble with raildriver's guide in DlC TestTrak.

Q:It seems, thats instead of being slow, RW simply craches, if you dont have a high end computer, while using max details = Timeout Detection and Recovery of GPUs through WDDM (fps 20 and lower)

I am sorry but you are now saying that Denmark2000E is not suitable to run on my pc.

It is regrettable because it is a very beautiful route.

Thank you for your time and effort.

Hi, it is a fact that the driver aid ( F3 ) when it is showing the map can drop the fps up to 1/2 at times depending on location and route. The TestTrak route is not the best example to show this effect though due to its size.

No he is not saying your PC cant run it but that if you turn down some of the graphical detail settings in the games graphical detail screen it might stop the route crashing as this has been shown to help others in the same situation. eg the object texture could be changed from high detail to medium detail and that one change may help with running the route.

I hope this helps

Thanks for the information, it was very interesting.
For me it is a disappointment that I must reduce the settings.
When I look at the system requirements RS.com:
•Processor: 1.7GHz or faster
•Memory: 512MB RAM
•Graphics: 64MB with Pixel Shader 2.0** (AGP PCIe only)
maybe unjustified, I tought that would not be necessary.
I'm sure many others like me also think the same.
Another question.
Do you think the upcoming updates will improve things regarding this problem?

This is minimum requirements :) Some places on DK2000 has a huge load of assets. Perhaps we try to remove some in later versions. But it shouldn't crash because of that. It should only be slower.

And i really hope, that RS.com takes the problem serious, that makes the program crash time to time.

Erik, Most times and for most routes it probably wouldn't be necessary but DK2000 is a very large route and when building any route it is a balancing act between what you want to add scenery etc wise to a area and its impact on performance / running it and one that route builders battle with all the time as a route grows.

Reducing the setting I mentioned doesn't seem to make that much of a visual difference ( from what I have seen ) but if it helps get the route running it isn't such a bad compromise.

I think we understand each other.
Low framerates Ok, but no crash.
Thank you very much for the info and help, for the moment it will do very well, it was very usefull.
I and many others I'm sure, are also hoping that RS.com will solve this problem.

Best regards,
Erik

Hi Erik,

Sorry about the false reports in RW_Tools, unfortunately the problem is with the .xml files used in RailWorks. e.g. The product name 'Gammel Lillebælt' appears in the .bin file as 'Gammel Lilleb₩lt' so of course when RW_Tools compares this with the actual folder name it can't find it.

I have modified RW_Tools to accept many of the accented letters used in German and French, but of course I keep finding more and more used by other languages. I will try to fix these Danish letters asap.
