Haha, my only connection to Aylesbury is that my Dad used to go there sometimes and I crashed my first motorcycle into a roundabout there that I swear wasn't there earlier the same day...
so used to watch the Class 25s and 31s trundling up and down at the bottom of our garden.
Now that's pretty cool, if you ask me...
And the GLC waste train, hauled by a 45 at around nine every night.
Ahh, the "cr*pliner" :D out of Cricklewood...
Wow, the noise!
...and the smell, too? :D
I would definitely have suggested a 25 and a 31 but a semi-version of the 25 was released by DT
Yeah, it's a shame that it never got a cab and a spot of tidying, but I'd rather have what we got than nothing at all. There's still room for variation, mind -- they only modelled one variant
and I knew the 31 was already being worked on.
Pictures, or it isn't real, lol
Anyway, the real point of my post is the 115 DMU. They really were the trains of my early years, used to get on one occasionally to go to Marylebone and fondly remember slamming the doors as hard as humanly possible (well, for a ten year old!). Ah, good times! I'm not a massive train buff so am wondering if you know what the differences are between the 115 we both mentioned and the apparently more common 117?
Not a massive amount of difference and if truth be told, little enough so that if someone were to do a 117, it could be re-skinned to be a 115 and there'd be no "cardinal sin" committed :D

Actual differences were many, albeit minor. The 117s were built by Pressed Steel and were initially allocated to the WR but wound up almost everywhere and the 115s were built by BR Derby and spent most all their lives pootling in and out of Marylebone on the former GCR as you know.

The 117s were 3-car units, the 115s were 4-car. The 117s had British United Traction (BUT) (Leyland) 150HP power units (one in each driving trailer), the 115s had 230HP BUT (Leyland Albion) units (similarly, one per "end"). Both were limited to 70mph. Seating arrangements were slightly different between the two, but I couldn't tell you specifics.

Hope that helps,

Rik.

We could do with a sticky or a thread that does have development lists on it.. I had totally forgotten about Dereks 101..

It just seems a waste of energy when we end up with a two class 20s situation..

For those of you crying out for EMUs, there's no reason why the RS class 317 I'm working on shouldn't work in Railworks.

Dave B

ps
Personnally I'd like to see a "plug" (class 70). I don't think they're ugly, and if Bachmann can make one....

A few good idea's.

1) Class 323
2) Class 321
3) Class 180

A Class 180 might be on Horgy's next to do list as the 170 is pretty similar.
A Class 150/153 might be on Oovee's list as they are creating the 156.

I know anyone can make anything but personally I would want to make something that isn't in progress already.

A Class 323 was also something that was missing from MSTS, although would see limited scope for "real life" use. However, I would recommend a MU as there's a good selection of diesel loco's around. Electric loco's are in short supply but not as short as MU's.

As everyone seems to want more and more diesels all of which look the same to me, and as I am working on a LNER branch line route, what we really need are a couple of small LNER steamers, e.g.
LNER - J39
LNER - J69
or a larger
LNER - K3
Would really be assets to RailWorks.

Personal opinion has always been that EMU/DMUs are really just buses which have had their tyres removed :-)

How about a 321 or a 315 which then can be modelled into a 313, 314, 507 and a 508.
