Evening all has anyone any knowledge of the error codes of this prog? I have had RW installed since its release and up to two days ago working fine, until I "has a little tweak" with ATI Tray Tools..Now RW does not start at all with an error message stating "error could not find valid technique for effect 134199292..anda reference of file c:\Dev\railworksBeta\Code\Libs\heracles\Engine\Draw\DxCommon\cheffectdx.cpp line251..

I have already tried: Uninstalling/reinstalling RW
Uninstalling/reinstalling Catalyst driver
Uninstalling/reinstalling ATI TRAY TOOLS

I can not find any reference to the above software string on my PC either!

Hopefully one of you friendly guys can shed some light on this for me its driving me nuts!!

MTAI Mark

Well the "error could not find valid technique for effect .." denotes that your card cannot now handle minimum Shaders, but really, without knowing what you fiddled with, then it's going to be a nightmare to fix. There is however, a button somewhere in your catalyst, to reset default settings. Sorry.

restore to default as Basherz adviced .. if that doesnt work clean out the drivers with driver clean re boot and install them fresh again.. all should go back to normal

Yes, it's probably a registry setting that has got mucked up and just uninstalling the drivers won't fix this.

Further to my last post I have generated this text with logmate:

[Content 16:44:22] Trace C:\Dev\RailWorksBeta\Code\Libs\Heracles\Engine\Draw\Pc\cHcDisplayManagerPc.cpp : 502 = Creating device
[Content 16:44:22] Trace C:\Dev\RailWorksBeta\Code\Libs\Heracles\Engine\Draw\DxCommon\cHcEffectDx.cpp : 134 = Creating effect Train_Post_Bloom.fx

Hopefully it will mean something to someone? Im guessing my card wont process effects? I have NET V2.0 installed and have Vista SP2

Cheers Mark

hi you need to look lower down the log to see if it failed or not - this just says that it has started to produce the effect - lower down should be a matching set of numbers to say failed if it failed or successful if ok

Hope this helps
