Hi.

I thought i was the only person with this problem.
I have been having that problem back into the days of Rail Simulator.
It followed me into RailWorks was hoping it would clear when i changed to Windows 7... no chance.
I have informed the RS/RW Team on numerous occassions but it has never been resolved.
I have now learnt to have the minimum amount of assets installed, just the ones i need.
There appears to be a cut-off point in that just one asset, any asset, over the limit and it constantly crashes, remove an asset, any asset, and it is fine again.
It is extremely frustrating.

Regards

Clive.

Hi,
Do you have all developers ticked for use in all of your routes, or do you only tick certain ones to use in any single route?
I may well be wrong, but I thought that when you select a route, only those assets are loaded for those developers that you have ticked. Would that be a way of controlling the number of assets loaded - and perhaps avoid RW crashing?
Just guessing!

That may be why I have ended up with 5 separate RW installs.

Oh this is bad news then as im not the only one getting this problem :o

Have you seen the blurred up writeing on the asset select screen :)

The course of this is haveing to many assets ticked :o
Or i might be that i have 4gb worth of assets installed on a route :o Thats what the rwp said it was when i put every single asset into a rpw.

I seem to have a huge asset folder but if a route only loads what it needs then I don't understand why this would be an issue.

RW always loads all Assets from the Providers which are ticked in the Route, used or not.
Use RW-Tools, make first a list of all Assets are used in the Route. Then use the Route Building tools --> Edit Provider Button. Then untick all Providers which are not used in the Route.
Good Luck

RW-Tools is a donation ware. You get the full version first as testversion. For further use you have to (please do it) spend a donation. But it is worth every penny you will spend.

If the program stopped the route crashes then i would buy it and untick them but sadly i dont know wich ones to untick and wich ones to have ticked.

Then i could be getting evan more problems.

Im going to be deleating all assets to the recycle bin then move each folder back see wich ones make the route crash as im willing to bet is only a certain asset folders that are causeing there stupid crashes.

Ive been working though the assets yesterday and have come up with a short list that are ok for me.

Image Image

Still have another 40 folders to move back though. :o

Lol i could be barking up the wrong tree though as the other day i ticked the iow rsdl folder then he whole route would crash or the writeing would go all blurrey.

Why delete assets to the recycle bin instead of just moving them elsewhere (or until you really want to delete them ) ? One slip up and they are gone :o

Possibly related, there was a set of carriages in the file library a few weeks ago which included a folder of files all with file sizes of zero bytes.

Installing this caused many routes to fail. Could well be you downloaded this file and it ruined your installation.
