This is really the wrong thread but the discussion has started here
Just a note regarding the color on the 20 in W&B screens,
The darknesss you see is not the color it is the effect of the stencil shader... this has now been changed from the development version you have seen so far.
In a bit of a rock and a hard place with the stencil shadow shader.
My choices were / are
Option 1.....As per default
Make an interior shadow model ... sorry but this is totally discounted.. my own personal view is this disfigures 50 % of the viewing surface, leaving shadow lines that are in the wrong positions and controlling the amount of shade impossible.... sorry I do not like the effect.
Option 2.... Make an exterior shadow box outside the model,
Although this works reasonably well , it has two major drawbacks .
There are no shadows cast onto the locomotive, As the distance increases the shader has a multiplying effect on the darkness... this is what you see in the W&B shots,
Plus compensation in the brightness of the diffuse texture required.
Option 3...An Exterior Shadow box with flipped faces
This is the option that is going in the release version..
It has the advantage of darkness not increasing with distance, no compensation required in the texture "Brightness" and enables shadows to be cast onto the locomotive. (thnx Paul
The slight down side is that shadows cast from one flipped exterior box onto another flipped exterior box are darker than straight forward cast shadows.. (they are the same level of darkness as the default method produces )
There is no ideal solution at the moment, but I do know that it is being looked at
You should be seeing further details this week.
Cheers
