A possible Scenario for Newcastle York ?

Post by dipper6 »

I was watching one of my holiday DVDs that has parts of a Train journey on HST from Peterborough to Edinburgh.
This was about 6-8 years ago.
On the Saturday all trains from york and further down the line were 2 hours late arriving in Edinburgh,
my wifey thingie and I were taking a day trip on HST from Ediburgh to Inverness and return.
Due to the HST being late we only got as far as Aberdeen but that did not annoy or worry us.

However, next day on the Sunday we went down to Peterborough on the superb HST again just for the day.
I can't remember if there was any problems on the journey down but there certainly was on the journey back.

On the journey back and just before he "Angel" below Newcastle the HST slowed right down to about 10MPH
and the train tilted over to about 30 degrees (maybe a few degrees more) so there obviously was a problem with the track and that was the cause of disruption on the previous day.

I was lying in bed last night when I thought that maybe someone may be interested in writing a scenario around that event.
I can provide the clip of the angle of the train though it lasts for only a couple of minutes.

Have a good day.

It does sound like an interesting idea although I am not sure that the "tilt" could be replicated.
