Snowdon mountain railway

Post by rhysicus1989 »

Heres a question for John,

Do you think it would be possible to create a working rack system? afraid I dont know much about computers but do you think its possible?

Route looks pretty good, this could be the beginning of somethign nice :D

I would run it if the author actually included in the readme what else you need to install to run it.

I assume South Devon Banks since that's the loading screen? But even with that route
as well as files below you need

from

http://www.digitaltraction.net

the 2 Hall class locos, 20t brake, Large prairie loco
best run it through RS_Tools to see what you need.
Again, I would run this if the files or url of the addons you need were listed. It shouldn't be a cloak and dagger scavenger hunt to find the stuff you need to run a route. Some of this stuff is becoming like MSTS addons where the authors just assume anyone downloading it knows what they are talking about when they just rattle off non-descriptive lists of the stuff you need. Or in this case, suggest running it through another program and continue your scavenger hunt.

The only relationship to South Devon is that I used its template, as for some reason if I did not use a template no textures would show.

All thats needed is the 2'3'' track the dolgoch loco and the narrow guage brake and the 2 coaches..

Any way as I said its stictly a tester to see if we can alter the physics of the locos and stock to get it to act as if its rack and pinon, if we can is easy enough to install a 3rd rail to be the 'rack'.

Its not intended at the moment to be used as a route just for the boffins to have a few problems to get their heads into, but I find it great just to hear those locos working hard...

yeah i get you, but it would be pretty awesome if it could be changed to work as though it were a functioning rack railway. also im sure there are plenty of smart people who would love a challenge and create a rack locomotive, i believe there is already one for MSTS?

there is a 3rd rail for the isle of wight, and its placed just like placing a fence, so it could be done if someone makes a rail that looks like a rack rail.

the possibilities are wicked here :P

Thats what this route and testing is all about, testing to see if the physics can be altered to allow it to run. i certainly hope so.
