RailWorks/Steam will not run in Offline Mode
Hi
I am trying to revert back to the previous version of RailWorks but Steam will not let me go into offline mode. :bad-words:
Anyone else have this problem.
Cheers

Re: RailWorks/Steam will not run in Offline Mode
YES
I am now trying to run in offline mode but Steam says that I am not connected to the network even though I have just been through a verification and other processes. I cannot therefore now run in offline mode. Once again the Steam will not let me play my game unless I am online.

There was a update to the steam client today, maybe you need to do that first ( if you haven't ) before it will let you go offline ?
John
edit - I just tried it and at first got what you experienced. But I tried a couple of times and got it to work in offline mode but what I did was exit steam, disable my internet connection and then restart the steam client and it eventually worked.

As far as I can see I have updated everything and there seems not much more I can do. I am testing out the connection on another computer though.

Re: RailWorks/Steam will not run in Offline Mode
I have tried connecting and updating RailWorks through another computer and this time I did not accept the update. The result is that I can go on and offlne as much as I please. I would say that the fault lies in today's update.

Your most likely right, but I did succeed in the end to get it to accept offline but the way I did it is to disable my adaptor until when restarting steam it worked.
John
edit - strangely as is usual for these things ( fix one thing, break another ) , with this steam client update today the pronounced delay I always got in starting the RW wrapper is gone.

Perhaps that is because Steam is not bothering to check if you are in offline mode.edit - strangely as is usual for these things ( fix one thing, break another ) , with this steam client update today the pronounced delay I always got in starting the RW wrapper is gone.

I normally run in online mode and that is where I always had the delay, but either way it has improved whether it was intentional or not.Acorncomputer wrote:Perhaps that is because Steam is not bothering to check if you are in offline mode.edit - strangely as is usual for these things ( fix one thing, break another ) , with this steam client update today the pronounced delay I always got in starting the RW wrapper is gone.

Hi John
Can you elaborate on that action please.Your most likely right, but I did succeed in the end to get it to accept offline but the way I did it is to disable my adaptor until when restarting steam it worked.

Re: RailWorks/Steam will not run in Offline Mode
OK
I have got RailWorks running again by copying the whole Steam folder from the computer that I did not accept the update on and pasting it into the computer that I did. I have made sure that I was physically unplugged from the internet to prevent Steam sneakily updating its client on my computer and I am happy to say that I can continue in offline mode.
I may never connect to Steam online again if this keeps on happening

Re: RailWorks/Steam will not run in Offline Mode
Glad it's not just me.
Still have to figure out how to get the previous RailWorks version working though.
I reconfigured my PC drive setup since my backup and Steam won't let me start RailWorks unless I go online.
Bit of a catch 22 me thinks.
Cheers

Re: RailWorks/Steam will not run in Offline Mode
If you have the whole steamapps folder ( saved elsewhere ) and you click on the railworks.exe it will say login in to steam. If you then log in to steam ( you have to be not logged in before ) and then try running the exe in that folder again it should start.

Re: RailWorks/Steam will not run in Offline Mode
I've managed to revert back RW, but remembering to disconnect from the net doesn't work for me.
ON & OFF the net to many times a day or just to old to remember stuff.
So I've set Steam to not update RW and all is fine for now.
Cheers all
