TS2012 exporter for Blender >= 2.63

The intricacies, or simplicities of 3D modelling are worth understanding. Alongside other forums like Building Rolling Stock, Scenic Item Creation and the other tool specific forums here's another place to ask questions that just don't quite fit the other forums.

TS2012 exporter for Blender >= 2.63

Post by DOM107 »

Now you can use the power of Blender > 2.63 for your TS2012 models.

I use Blender 2.63 and Mike Adams who helped testing the exporter, specifically animations, successfully tested it with versions 2.64b1 and 2.64b2.

The file can be found:
on uktrainsim
or
at the download section of railsim-fr

Leave here your questions, remarks...
And please read the pdf file included in the zip file :)

Hi,

Thank you both for making it possible to use the new Blender 2.63.

Kind regards

Annex 5.3 in zip file

Hello,

I'll check this.

I found a bug in normals computation (in some cases when merging objects).
I found this while working on my current model which uses textures w/ normal maps.

Hello,

I'll check this.
So far I made some check up to the igs file generation.

In the igs file and the export log file, field EmissiveStrength is properly set.
But this parameter might have no effect in TS2012.

There is a parameter missing in my export manual :
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2 ... eflections
mirror_color is used to change EmissiveColor.
That could be the parameter you need.

I asked this question in the 'comments' area of the UKTS download but never got a reply - what does blender do and how does it compliment TS2012?

Blender is a free 3D modeling program which can be used to create content for TS2012.
http://www.blender.org/
This exporter can be used with the latest version of Blender (2.63).

Sorry but I didn't get any email telling me someone posted a comment.

I confirm this.
The Blender emit is used to set EmissiveStrength in the igs file but it's not found anywhere in the GeoPcDx file.

While compiling an 1.2 relase, I updated io_export_igs.py (bug in normals computation):
http://dl.free.fr/iw9VCWVDC
Above button "Valider et télécharger le fichier" (Validate and upload the file), type what's between quotes << >> (currently, its ArtRoulette that must be typed) and click on the "Valider et télécharger le fichier" button.

"mir colour" is indeed the parameter that has been used for a value related to emissivity. Whether that's right or wrong I don't know.

I've found it certainly dumbs down the glow that can exist when using RW3 with TSX switched on.

ia: No change
igs: Fix normals computation
pdf: Information added on material attributes setting (paragraph 5.3), annex with shader usage examples and a few changes here and there.

There is also a simple sample blend file with export parameters (SampleWithDots.zip).
