Lost all patience
I still can't get the scenario markers to work. I've read the posts, tried to follow the directions and suggestions, tried the work arounds, the quirks etc and still get the "marker missing" error message. All I want to do is have the AI trains take a specified path out of a yard to a specified main line track.
The ability to establish the routes of AI Trains is about as basic a functionality as there is for a rail simulator. This is the most basic function of real world rail operators...ROUTE trains. They route them exactly where they want them to go, starting and stopping exactly where they want them to start and stop, and exactly WHEN they want them to and exactly how long they want them to. This should be the most basic, most robust, simplest to achieve aspect of ANY rail simulator. It should have received absolute top priority before eye candy, before engine physics, before anything else. And after two major releases...they still can't get it to work correctly.
I WANT TO RUN TRAINS NOT DEBUG COMPUTER PROGRAMS!!!!!!
If I'm sounding upset...I am.
To hell with it, I'm going back to flying my Black Shark helicopter. I'm not that good of a pilot but at least the software works (amazingly well). If you want to see a true professional quality simulator look at Black Shark. Train routing should be childs play compare to the complexity of simulating a combat helicopter to the versatility and fidelity achieved in Black Shark.

Re: Lost all patience
forgive me for following you over here from train-sim, but I just wanted to reiterate my support for your statements:
I absolutely agree with you. The dearth of user-made scenarios is evidence that you and I are not alone.
I hit my head against the wall with RS trying something simple - all I wanted to do was get a yard engine from the turntable at Bath Green Park, across the two mainlines, to the south yard lead. I thought the use of dynamic destination markers in RW would solve the problem, but no.
Making scenarios is what I found so fun in MSTS. Just can't do it in RW.
Please - if the developers are reading these forums - please fix this!! Give the scenario creator absolute control over pathing, both for AI and for drivable trains. It's a must.
We could see some RailWorks virtual railroads if we had that kind of control.

Re: Lost all patience
Indeed.. We could all get an animal to sacrifice to the god of Dispatching to appease RW before creating a new scenario. Maybe then things will work out better. If some has it working, its not a software problem
Cheers,

Re: Lost all patience
Why sacrifice animals! Stick to sacrificing fermented plants, like cereals (with and without hop), grapes, potatoes (if you must).
If you sacrifice enough, you will start to think and feel like the dispatcher, you shall be brothers than.

Re: Lost all patience
I have made scenarios, well 2 so far and i know they work it's just this damned proc error that stops me from finishing the damn scenario so i can check it
I have over 20 Ai trains on my latest scenario and multi missions for the player train, so it can be done, just need oodles of patience. But a fix for the dispatcher is badly needed in Railsimulator oops sorry Railworks

Hey, if it's bruthar-hood with the dispatcher you want, it probably isn't fermented plants you should be sacrificing.

The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

"I have over 20 Ai trains on my latest scenario and multi missions for the player train, so it can be done, just need oodles of patience"
Plus at least a 3 track mainline where the AI and player trains never have to do an actual meet.
http://forums.flightsim.com/vbts/showth ... p?t=239517
There's no possible way to do that in RS/RW.
"i know they work it's just this damned proc error that stops me from finishing the damn scenario so i can check it"
If you can't finish it and check it, pray tell how do you know it works?

Cast bread and wine on the waters, and bow down to the great god RW?sniper297 wrote:If you can't finish it and check it, pray tell how do you know it works?

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558
Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Hi Sniper. fella, they work as the show driver list shows all ai as succeded, all i need now is to wait for this blasted proc error to stop crashing the simsniper297 wrote:"I have over 20 Ai trains on my latest scenario and multi missions for the player train, so it can be done, just need oodles of patience"

Re: Lost all patience
Indeed it does but in many of my tests the scenario would fail anyway even if it says it's succeeded. I've found the simulation pre-scenario is not a good way to see what will actually happen.Hi Sniper. fella, they work as the show driver list shows all ai as succeded

Re: Lost all patience
I think the AI despatcher is worse in RW than RS, I have made loads of scenarios in RS with problems of course but I have only done 3 for RW two of them defy all common sense and I have given up, did exactly the same thing in RS and they work perfectly.

Re: Lost all patience
If you can muster the extra effort, RSC should be happy to receive them, to see the side by side comparison for themselves.
Don't worry about getting an automatic RTFM answer, it is turned off currently.
Don't hold your breath for a personal answer anyway. But at this time, all we can do to further this issue is to supply them with concise examples of what is broken, hoping they can make some sense of it for themselves.
In particular, if something is working in KRS and not in RW, it will get some attention, I am sure.

I whole heartedly concur with this, for all the words spoken about the issues here and other places, only hard evidence is going to get anything looked into and or fixed/changed.AndiS wrote:If you can muster the extra effort, RSC should be happy to receive them, to see the side by side comparison for themselves.
