I am trying to create some scenarios for my UK based route, but using only default items. Unfortunately am not very familiar with UK rolling stock, so I wonder if someone could maybe help me with the following:

What would an engineering/civil engineers working train (the type repairing track, ballast etc) formation be (using Railworks default stock)? I know only using default stock, maybe limits realism to a certain extent, but hopefully a formation could be achieved which is fairly plausible.

And secondly what loco hauled train formations would have been in use on the Cotswold line during the BR Blue era for express passenger services and local stopping services respectively?

I think the formation would be: Locomotive (Class 47/Class 37), Ballast Wagons*
I may be wrong but I think it is quite correct though.
*I don't think there is any default wagon for ballast.

You could use the default 7-plank wagon, as when loaded it contains aggregate. A brake van would be a good idea on the back & maybe even a Green Mk1 BG as a tools van.

As for passenger formations, for HST expresses passing through you would see a formation of 2 TFO - TRFB - 3 TSO - TGS between the 2 power cars. The First Class was normally placed at the London end of the set. For lesser expresses, a Class 47 on the front of 6-8 Mk2s would work. For stopping services, it'll have to be the NSE liveried Class 166 in 3 or 6 car formations.

Would I be correct in think the formation for this would be a FO, FO, Buffet, TSO, TSO, Guard?
