A day out series !

Post by whittaker »

Hello all

I was going to post this on the general forum but with all the 2012 thing going on i thought id post it on here and it does have something to do with scenarios as well :D .

Here goes ,some months ago i was reading a post on the forum about scenarios for watching trains rather than driving which got me thinking !!!!!. how about building a section of route ,rather than full route with hidden fiddle yards and creating a couple of timed scenarios to go with them . thinking maybe one using ukts packs and one using all stock available.

The place could be anywhere any period ,day or night, lineside ,station, yard ,etc .As a route builder this wouldnt take that long to do compared to a complete route, thinking of one every couple of months around my Blyth and Tyne work.change of scenery makes for a good break

so if im talking total gibberish just say so or if it sounds a half good idea id like some ideas for areas to do (no clapham jct,but wood be good fun :o :D )

also these could be used and discarded rather than keeping them ,just like a day out :D

thanks

Seems like a reasonable idea, and a good way to practice route building on a smaller scale than the RBC. You will however need reasonable route-building skills to create both the setting and the fiddle yard in a believable fashion. If there are unique landmarks in the vicinity, you might need to create those before you start, too.

Spotting scenarios are not very difficult in principle - just don't set any trains as player controlled, and stick the scenario marker at the initial position for the camera. At the moment the scenario editor in RW3 seems to have some major quirks, so maybe wait for the dust to settle before trying that.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.
