Trains and Routes only entertain so far, what you need are engaging and entertaining scenarios. Here's where you can learn how to make bigger, better scenarios and really bring your virtual train world alive.
I just went on my first test on a Scenario I made starting just after Reading West. I stopped at Reading ok then I left the station and a pop up said 'AI train 10:42 Reading - Paddington has reached its destination at lat *xxxx* lon *xxxx* (forget where it was to be precise) then I clicked OK and it took me to the summary to say 'timetable complete'...I hadn't even made it near Paddington yet!
Is there something I pressed that makes and a scenario end once an AI train reaches somewhere? I havent read any instructions on how to do this so don't know how I have done it
Sorry my fault, it said it as left the path, and the path is Maidenhead Slow Portal to Goring Slow Portal (its is the 1042 Padd - Oxford), I had to try an remember it, as I noted when I left the print screen didn't capture the message, it grabbed a screenie of the desktop instead!
I have searched the message and it say's it's probably as its on the wrong track or various other path issues. The thing is it's routed on the slow so I can't see why it keeps creating an issue. I had a look at the time viewer and the train does indeed enter at 11:21, then dissapears off track straight away before it's even passed the portal. Explains why I keep getting a SBHH when I press 'play' to leave the editor, yet works ok when loading via the scenario selection.
Is the portal bugged at Maidenhead or does it just need deleting and timetabled etc again and should work fine?
**EDIT** train now on track instead of Portal, works fine now. Only problem is another train is doing the same at West Drayton Portal on the fast and slow, so it appears it does not work at all with portals, does that mean the trains I want to enter will need to park up in a line on the track waiting for their start time? Would have thought it would drain resources doing so?
Starting trains from Portals has been known to cause issues. It works for some people, but others have not had much luck with it. Personally, I just use Portals as a way to get AI out of the way after serving their purpose. I don't see it as a problem, having to line up the AI on the track, as that's how RSC do it. Just try & make sure that there is not more than one train per signal block.
