Class 421 going 2 mph
Just took a break out from route building and thought i would test the third rail but my class 421 will only go 2 mph. Have i done something wrong?

The 421 should be pretty easy to drive - put it in Forward, release the brakes, and select Notch 4. A couple of things to check:
1) Did you build the unit yourself or is it a premade scenario? There's a specific consist to use. Obviously you have to put it on electric track too.
2) Do you have Expert Controls selected?
3) Don't use the Raildriver. At present it conflicts with most "advanced physics" traction.
4) Make sure the DRA is released (not glowing red). It should be released by default though.
5) Make sure the pantograph switch is up in Cab Control. The 421 doesn't have a pantograph but Railworks pretends it does. Again, it should be up by default.

The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

I know how to drive it
Its on electric, hecne testing the third rail, DRA is off, pantograph is fine, there is nothing different with this train apart from i made the consist myself, but you have to make all consists yourself in railworks!!

Okay, so the next thing to check is whether the consist is correct. There are three correct prototypical consists:
4CIG: DTCL-MBS-TSO-DTCL, with the Guard's compartment of the MBS against the TSO.
3CIG: DTCL-MBS-DTCL
4BIG: DTCL-MBS-RMB-DTCL - I haven't tested this one, as the restaurant car is not supplied with the pack, but reasonable substitutes are available in loco-hauled stock packs. Normally the 4BIG would be run in multiple with one or two 4CIG units.
The key part is the MBS, as that contains the actual motors.

Found the problem, i hadn't set the electrification in the track properties.
