First Scenario

Post by shaun123 »

Hello all, since getting Railworks last year, I've been thinking of whether to create my own scenarios, anyway, finally completed one today for the Portsmouth line. Just a simple 15 minute scenario driving a 450 from Haslemere-Petersfield, stopping at all stations. It is a timetabled scenario with times that must be adhered to. (They're my favourite scenarios by the way!)

I've gone as far as adding AI traffic at Haslemere.

Have read the tutorials and watched [plug]Kromaatikse's excellent YouTube video on scenario creation[/plug] but on departing Haslemere the signal won't clear on the end of the platform, I've SPAD'ed it just to test the scenario and it does work fine apart from the signal unable to clear.

Any ideas please?

Thanks,
Shaun

This may or may not be releevant but check you have not left the priority of your AI traffic at the default "special" setting.

That is a rather annoying problem that does show up occasionally. There are a few things to try:

1) Vary the initial position of the player's train, if possible so that it crosses the AWS ramp before reaching the signal.

2) Have an AI train occupy the section in front at the start of the scenario, then move out of the way. If you're a stopping service, it's entirely natural to have a fast service receding into the distance in front of you, especially if you start at Haslemere. Put such a train just before the next signal on the route.

3) If all else fails, instruct the player to request permission to proceed by pressing Tab (or Shift-Tab depending on running direction).
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

Thank you, I did try all of the above to no avail. So deleted the scenario and will start again, must be something I'm doing wrong!
