Seeberg: passenger pick-up

Seeberg: passenger pick-up

Post by MFMPorter »

I have a scenario on the way, which starts at Seeberg. After successfully adding driver instructions, I opened the timetable window to add the first pick-up instruction - at Seeberg itself. I noticed this was timed to happen about 15 seconds after the start time of the scenario as a whole.

I checked this using the "player" window at the bottom of the screen, and as my player train was towards the front of the platform it reversed first. I then back-tracked, so to speak, and placed my consist where it had previously finished reversing, and guess what, it moved forward first to where it had originally started! It seemed there was no correct starting position at the platform.

I think I have overcome the problem by placing my player consist in advance of the station. I had no such problem with a scenario I'm doing that starts out from York (Modern Route).

Could anybody shed any light on this, please?

Many thanks

Once again you're discovered that the in-game AI is pretty simple and stupid. Since this is what's used to run the previews, it's no wonder you see strange stuff happening. For that reason, I recommend totally ignoring the in-editor preview, and instead test the scenario by actually playing it.

Put the train in the platform and give it a pick-up instruction. The player will be able to open the doors immediately - they are not required to go to the end of the track marker (as the AI does) as long as when they open the doors, they are at the platform.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.
