As per subject line, really -- has anyone else lately noticed that their game is not creating usable backups with this feature enabled?
I ask, because it used to be that, with this flag set, whenever one did an edit, it'd backup your stuff so that when the inevitable crash came (usually resulting in "ScenarioProperties.xml" and "Scenario.bin" being written out as zero byte files), one could simply copy and overwrite the corrupted items and away you went back to editing having lost minimal work.
After having the editor crash tonight, I discover that my "backups" are also zero byte files and that the crucial "ScenarioProperties.xml" is not one of them anyway :bad-words:
Just me or anyone else suffering this, too?
Rik.
Is the "--enable-backups" feature broken?

Re: Is the "--enable-backups" feature broken?
I could never get their "backup" feature to work properly anyways, or it never seemed to work as intended, just like the problems you're describing.
Myself, when working on a route or scenario and make some good progress (usually after every hour or two) I simply use the Packager to make a new package (rwp) file that contains my route and/or scenarios and/or whatever other assets I may want backed up.
There has been a few times I've had to restore my routes and/or scenarios from a package I've made this way when something went terribly wrong... such as the other day for some reason suddenly it seemed all of my terrain was "level" and flat.. arrrgh (must have been something to do with pressing the wrong key or wrong options, I'm not sure, I don't recall doing anything wrong though), and all those hours I spent of carefully crafting hills and mountains and such just "gone".. and seeing most of my scenery and tracks magically "floating" in the air. Ohhs noooos!
But, no worries.. I had a recent backup I made of my route with the Packager. I simply un-installed my corrupted route, then installed it again from my most recent backed-up packaged file. Loaded it in, and voila, everything was back to normal and I hadn't lost much work.

My backups with the above shortcut are still working satisfactorily. No zero byte files!
