Hi all,
New to the scenerio editor, seem to of found my way round OK and have a nice activity for W&B coming along nicely.
What I would like to know is how to have an AI train overtake my train which is in a loop.

Re: Overtaking AI trains
Well I would say it is basically a matter of having the right combination of service priorities ,timings and the use of stop at instructions that have a set holding time and trial and error.RobertM wrote:Hi all,

Re: Overtaking AI trains
hi, i made and released a scenario for rail sim for the newcastle to york route, in this i managed what you describe, the player train was a stopping passenger, 47 with some mk2's, the train was directed into the loop before durham southbound where it waited and was passed by an express passenger, hst set. as john says it is a matter of timing and priorities, i had to move the following hst set so it was at the correct point when the player train pulled into the loop, if it was too far away then the player would pull into the loop and be given an exit.
it is a case of trial and error but with the newer scenario tools it should be easier as you can control the timing better

Re: Overtaking AI trains
Following on from using a passing loop to allow a AI service to overtake, has anyone managed to program a lay-by siding for the same thing - in other words, a freight train reverses into a trailing siding to allow a AI service to pass. The siding is isolated from the main running line by a crossover and bufferstop, and it was quite a common operation in steam days - I tried to draw a diagram, but it didn't work.
I had to put a marker just inside the headshunt to change the point protecting the main running line, but the point on the mainline stayed against the oncoming AI service and it stopped. It is almost as if the two points of the crossover are not co-acting, which seems strange.
Phil
P.S. What is the proper name for a marker placed within a scenario rather than one placed by the route-maker? It can't be a Scenario Marker because that is something different.

Re: Overtaking AI trains
try using a "t" signal with a e suffix after it so the despacher ignore it once in the lye bye
AMD A8-7650K, 64Bit win 10, 240GB SSD-TS2016,Nvidia GTX 960 2GB, 1TB HD,750W Psu, 19" AOC Monitor.
Re: Overtaking AI trains
Thanks for the reply, but I'm afraid you misunderstood me - this is a scenario for a pre-existing route.
Much as I would like to, I can't alter the signalling without changing the "version" of the route.
Am I correct in thinking that the two halves of crossovers are not co-acting.
Best wishes
Phil
