Doors animation is translating cars

Post by DOM107 »

Hello,

The train is made of several cars 3 of which have doors animation.

The door animation is working properly on each of the 3 cars but, as soon as I hit the key triggering the doors animation, the 3 cars are not in line any more with the rest of the train! The 3 cars are translated to the right (with respect to the train movement).

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would redo the animation file. It appears that you moved the door's axis at the same time you opened them in the animation. What modeling program are you using?

I'm using 3DCrafter (3DC).

Each door is independant with its own axis in the door plane.
The animation is OK in 3DCrafter with just the door being translated along the car length. Maybe an export animation bug in 3DC.

What happens when you preview the animation in the Asset Editor?

I can only suggest that you recreate the animations and reexport new ia files.

Eventually, it's a 3DCrafter bug which will be corrected soon.

I use 3DC 7.1.2 and have not had a problem with exporting animations. I think in the 3DCrafter version, you are required to have your main object located at 0,0,0. If your main object is not at the zero position, when your animation is performed, it shifts your model to the location that the main object is. Which in your case appears to be three tracks to the right. If your main object has not been centered at 0,0,0; it may be worth trying again after centering your model.

Corrected today w/ 3DC 8.2.7 build 111.
