Greetings All,
I am currently working on a small diesel shunter that is handbraked only. Is it possible to achieve this within RW or am I going to have to fit it with a loco air brake and pretend its a handbrake?

If it is possible a quick walkthrough would be appreciated.

Well, how about setting the braking pressure to 0 for everything else and set the hand brake to whatever braking pressure it's supposed to be?

What type of loco is this? (Steam, Diesel, Electric?)

Going by the documentation, you can have engine-only steam or vacuum brake. I guess this can be combined with air brake as a train brake.

Set max application and release rate to something swift, and Max Cyclinder Pressure compatible with the train brake and you should be fine. Just my guess.

My first attempt would be a Loco Only Vacuum Brake with
Max Release Rate 21
Max Application Rate 21 (i.e., you go from zero to max in one second)
Max Cylinder Pressure 21
Pressure for Max Force 21
Max System Pressure 21
Min System Pressure 0

Handbrake is that binary parking brake which you don't need if you implement this nice, gradually applied version of a handbrake.

Max Force Percent of Vehicle Weight 200
Normally, you have some 100 here, but if your handbrake can be applied so hard that the wheels skid, then you need to put the value here which will make the wheels skid. If your DryFriction is 0.2000, then the maximum possible "Max Force Percent of Vehicle Weight" is 0.2 * 9.81 * 100. I.e., with 200 you will skid without sanding, if your DryFriction is only 0.200. But people argue for figures up to 0.4 and higher.

If you set your brake force to 400, Dry Friction to 0.41 and Wet Friction to 0.2, then you will be feeling the change in weather. Then you will only be able to brake half as hard in the rain. If you set your brake force to lame 100, you will never skid.
