Problems with Update and Route Editor
There seems to be little point in posting in the Core Update Topic as I rarely get a reply. Before the Upgrade when I entered the Route Editor to edit The Central Route I usually use the jump to after the origin point appears. Jumping to Warrington Bank Quay Station which has about 1300 Assets and a fairly large amount of Track. It took about 3 seconds for everything to appear. You would expect this from an SSD Drive. Since the Update it now takes about 15 seconds and then another 10 seconds or more for the Lofted part of the Platforms to appear. They are the last things to be made visible.
I also thought that the Point Lights problem with being on in the daytime was fixed in this Update. Mine are still on all day..
To add to that the gameplay is no longer as smooth as it was before the update on The Woodhead Route and the fps indicator which kept fairly steady is now bobbing about all the time.
I feel this major Update has been a disaster for me and my Machine as everything ran very smoothly and without problem before the Update. I am now wondering if it is worth carrying on as by the time we get to TS-2013 it will probably be unplayable on this new Machine. I actually expected this as RSC have never produced an Update IMHO that has not caused chaos or problems for me personally.
Kind regards James.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
I've noticed that assets take longer to load - just putting things in game to test screenshots it was taking a good 5 seconds on N-Y which never used see loading at all, it was all instantly there. Its not an issue down to my rig which can run through motherwell above 14fps on highish settings.
If its a trade for better overall performance (which I'm definately getting) then it's a trade I'd take though it is a bit odd.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
Yes, I can confirm that assets do take a long time to appear in the editors, particularly lofted items like track and platforms. They do get there, however, and there seems to be nothing missing when you move away from the origin of the scenario or route. I have SSD which should be quick, so this seems to be a change to the program.
At the moment, apart from having to wait a little longer to get going, this does not seem to be game stopper.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
Thanks Ben and Geoff for your prompt replies. Much appreciated. I am loosing considerable faith in RSC as for me there seems to be no improvement at all. It seems the only way to go in the future would be to have everything overclocked , no normal mechanical Drives just SSD's and a GTX 590 coupled with the fastest Memory available. A Massive Power Supply and liquid cooking to match preferably from Alcor. Updates to older DLC does not seem to be happening like the 101 and the new Lighting System still does not seem to work properly for those using default items
Kind regards James.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
If you've noticed recently alot more products have started to get updated and from the seems of it, it looks like it will be 1 product every 2 weeks will be updated to TS2012, which is good news as the products should be getting updated eventually.Retro wrote:Thanks Ben and Geoff for your prompt replies. Problems with Update and Route Editor
My spec isn't anything overclocked or involving a 590 and I can run everything high up. Memory and an ssd def help though. As I said before I'd agree with Geoff that a few seconds extra to load isn't really a problem.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
I've been seeing this in the Scenario Editor since RW3 came out. It's not really an issue, gives me time to finish rolling a smoke or to get a coffee.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
Thanks for replies.
10 am in the Summer

This is bugging me. It does not happen on the Woodhead Route with the lights there so are we expected to have a dependency on this Route instead of being able to use the Default Lights. If they can fix one why can't they fix the others ???
Making people spend more Money if I may be cynical for a moment.
Kind regards James.

Aren't lights always on in Editor mode anyway?

The Default Point Light. Yes but they should turn off in play mode depending on the time of day and season.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
The default point light does not appear have a day/night cycle. I'm not sure whether or not it used to.
I took a look at the point light.bi file using RWTools as the lights in WCMLN always appeared on. It turns out that the line of code about day/night cycles wasn't present. I added it in from the 100m diffuse light and they now turn on and off.
The best thing to do is to clone the point light.bin and make your own set of lights for your route.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
Hi Rich,
This has already been done by the community but apparently it causes another problem with the Lights. I would be grateful if someone could verify this. We should not have to correct mistakes ourselves when the Lighting was used as a major enhancement to sell TS-2012. This is unacceptable to me. It would be nice if we could speak on the Phone to RSC and tell them our opinions directly.
Kind regards James.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
Would it be possible to use the relevant File from the Woodhead lights which seem to work and clone the lights to my own Developer Folder or is that breaking the Law. Also I have heard that certain lights on a Route may not come on at random when the community fix is applied. I know I am a pest but could some kind Soul explain to me why if this is correct. I just don't understand which files to use alter or clone as I am not a technical person.
Thanks and kind regards James.

Re: Problems with Update and Route Editor
I have looked at the Point Light .bin file from the Woodhead Folder and there seems to be no reference I can see about Day or Night.
Puzzled.
