UK South East

Post by nips_uk »

Hello,

For the past few months I have been working on a route in the South East of the UK. It streches from Eastbourne across to Brighton and will go all the way up to London Victoria.

The route is half finished, but not ready for download yet as I am having some problems!

You can check out all the information on the routes website: http://www.quiba.co.uk/rw3/uksoutheast/index.html

The screenshots look very good....regarding the page text...it's very dark against a black background and very difficult to read. May I suggest you change the text colour to white.

This sounds interesting, having been born and bred the other side on the "Westcoastway" - Portslade and West Hove as it was known, could say a very local area, moreso as my first Signal Box was Falmer ( that was as a BR signalman ) and made friends with signallers at Lewes (B was the only box by then - and without the current panel ) and others on the Seaford branch and towards Eastbourne, will look forward to this.

I managed to get the freeware packs installed, so have started on converting all the scenery. Yesterday I have finished from Seaford to Newhaven. It is slighty different compared to the original pictures as I have less choice for building and such, but hopefully should still be good! When i get to Lewes, I will release it for everyone to have a play and listen to your suggestions

The first section of my route UK South East is ready for download and installion.

Please note; 1) This is the first section from Seaford to Lewes, 2) Its still in BETA, so please let me know if you find any problems, 3) You will need the Thompson Class 170 pack to run the trains.

I have left the route unprotected so people can edit the missions with a train of their choice.

Hi Nips

I downloaded your route and had a run down the line. There are a few little pointer I would like to suggest, if that's ok. One thing I noticed was the distance the track/train was from the platform, at Newham, the gap from train to platform edge was quite wide. When I lay my platform using the offset tool, I set the distance to 4.2 using 5m platform, I also noticed that, not all the doors were opening at some stations. I checked to see if you have placed the platform in one section and noticed that they were in two or three sections. By past experience and saving you a lot of time and hassle later, try to lay your track in one complete section which will then give you one complete section of platform. This will correct any problem with some or no doors opening on the carriages. The other pointer is the level crossing sounds. I found if you lower the sound tower with the speaker cones level with the track and turned 90deg to the track then you only hear them when you are close in approach and the sound is centred only at that point and not heard quite so loudly from a distance. Only one more point to make is to smooth out the jagged edges along the track banks etc.

Overall, you are doing a great job. Its looking good and taking shape. Had no problems with the signals or any track issues. I hope you do not mind me raising these pointers. I found that the issue with platforms were only discovered after i had laid a good number of stations and had to go back and relay the platforms and track on most of them.

Keep up the good work and look forward to the next instalment.

Mark.

Hi Nips,
.
Just run Seaford to Lewes, looking good, didn`t stop anywhere!!!!! but the one thing that has got me tightly around the throat is --- theres one rail missing all the way --- you`ve missed out the most Southern of Southern items - the Juice, Conductor or Third rail. OK ir`s currently only a Beta release but you also say you`ve gone as far as Balcombe on you Website, thats going to be a lot of "Juice" to put in
.
Cheers
Ken
