Does anyone know where from DEM Data is avaible and how to use it?

A quick search for DEM will give you the answer, but these are what you want for a UK route.
Once you've set up your route, there is an import function in the terrain forming tools which replaces the old "Press T to make Hills" function. Its under "paintbrush" then "Hills with an arrow" which then gives you the option of importing different areas of tiles.
