Creating Slip Switches in TS2012

Hi,
I am not able to get cross overs to convert to slip switches. Even checked the railsimulator.tv video just to make sure I was doing the right things but

no luck so far. Has anybody succeeded at this yet? I am only talking straight lines here, nothing fancy like on curved track (yet)

Hi Ross
My perception is that this aspect hasn't changed from RW2, even though the rendering of crossovers has.
Have you tried changing the track-type to Yard after you've pressed the Weld button? That seems to work for me in most cases.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Bob

hi,
Now there is a pearly word of wisdom I shall store away forever
Thanks for that one Bob, works for me to now.
I do not remember doing that when creating my trial route the other week but who knows , old timers plays tricks on us all

Hi Ross
Glad that's worked for you. I've also found that on (several) occasions you get a better result using Yard welding even if it'll work with Main Line selected.
The only thing to bear in mind is that you'll need to change the track properties back to Main Line at some stage so the AI traffic won't get confused.
Cheers

Slips are laid at the minimum curve radius defined in the track rule, which for default track rules is usually around 500m for mainline, or 100m for yard.

Hi All
When I did/do any of Many Short Journeys, I change the track properties right at the end of the area I'm working and I try to work out (remove) as many triangles as I can.
This is especailly the point work area, so that you only get the triangle on the toes(joint). It also applies for platforms or the doors don't open
You use the Yard, Freight and Mainline to get the radus you required and then change the properties on that which you have put on your route only. Simple.
The welding, as well with the laying just keep going until you have something which is acceptable to you. Only go to the properties via the space bar and then use the space bar to set Mainline, Yard, UP/Down/Both, electification and line speed. Any anything else you can think of.
If you go about the track laying this way, then you learn a great lot and I have found it also helps in making sure you have the gradients all in releationship to each other. Some areas of Many Short Journeys I couldn't of done it otherwise.
The colours through the space bar route tell you great lot and the problem with you not being able to render crossover is exactly what Bob has said. You will find that you may have Yard and Mainline together in the crossover and it won't have in. You can be here for hours (i've done it, got the medal) keep going and it will fall into place.
