The Highworth Coast Line

Post by Will »

I figured I should start a thread, like the others have. I can keep my updates all together then. Here's a little background info.

Route name (In-game) - The Highworth Coast Line
Route Length (As of 15/08 @ 22:54) - 19.3miles (Though I have plans to extend before initial release to incorporate a new idea I had about 15seconds ago)
Fully Scenerised? - No. At least 16 miles is fully detailed. The other 3 and a bit has scenery but is not complete to my standard of detail.
Primary Type - Preservation Line/route
No. of Stations - 9 (On preservation section of route)
Gradients - Variations from Flat to 1 in 40 for half a mile, maybe more
Single Person or group project? - Single person, though I may need somebody willing to help me with the route as it's got rather big!
Frames Per Second intense? - In some areas, unfortinatley, yes. In a majority of the route though, No.
Requirements - Edinburgh & Glasgow, and the Isle Of Wight Add-On, plus a few custom assets.

Here's some shots taken today, this will give you an idea on progress. I intend to release these within the year, no fixed date so that I don't break a date I set. I'll let you all know closer to the time though. For now, these are the latest pictures. I'll post all pictures, WIP or not, here now. Keeps it all together.

Excellent work Will

I particularly like the pic with the road curving back under the line, it has that feeling of depth to it

Regards

Phil
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

Nice route Will!

I like the shot of the bridge with the yachts. Reminds me of Arnside in Cumbria. I would love to help you out with your project but I don't have Edinburgh to Glasgow.

Well done so far.

Bit of work done today. I don't want to show the station area as it's not 100% complete. The track type to whoever asked is one of Mundo's 3D creations. Fab track, best with AA x8.

No. I just based it loosley on Minehead, as I think I explained above why I did, but if not then I wanted a station that had a nice layout and wasn't too closed in, and I chose Minehead. It only looks like the WSR route (roughly and loosely) for about 2 miles, leaving you over 21 miles of track to explore that isn't WSR themed. Plus the mainline.

Goodstuff Will, looks stunning! How many assets are used from the E&G? Will i be losing alot of scenery? of course its your choice about releasing the route, but just asking!

Thanks Nick. :) Not a great deal, it's only scenery, no track has been used so it (should) run as normal, though I will test everything and anything before I upload for release. You won't loose much, no, I would say 98% of the route is actually RSC's Falmouth Branch Assets, and the other 2% are E&G. If somebody tried to run the route without the Falmouth Add-on, I doubt it would even load, it's heavily used throughout the route. You could just about get away with missing the IOW and E&G, but scenery would be missing then, and very noticable. The assets I used from the E&G are what I call 'Super-Details', such as the tipped over ladder, Jack's, Tubes, etc etc. You shouldn't loose hardly naything scenic wise, but as I said, I'll double check everything before uploading.
