Just a bit of progress.

I ewas reading through the marker tools tutorial on rs_tools and it says if your markers do not show up then click the circle next to the compass at the top of the screen and another list will appear top right, well it does and it lists all my routes and their markers, but not the route i created. If i click on the blue square in the object tools and go to the pop up list on the right, i can click on chriswillis and i then have to lists 1 being Addon and 2 being HastingstoCharngCross, they are ticked but i dont get any markers showing.

Hi

I'll try again...

Are you able to see the decals in the Route Editor (in the Miscellaneous category)?

Cheers

I've found the Miscellaneous section and it has a list of things in it, but i'm not sure if my decals are in it, i've only got 1 decal which is the entire route, i'm assuming it should be in there with the same title as it is in the 'routemarker' folder?

I may have had a break through. I've deleted the files in the route marker folder and gone into rs_tools to reconvert the klm files directly to DCSV files but when i click on 'Convert Markers Direct to DSV' i get the following error:

Error Path not found occured in Form_Load

Dear Chris, please try and use RWtools...
It does all you need from setting up the correct directories and f. i. your route template.

And one (good) advice: take a look again at the whole procedure.
You have to understand each step (by step).

And sorry for this question but what do you use to make decals?
One decal for the entire route is a bit strange to me
You have to have a darn good pc and video card to pull that decal :)

This are decals made by RWdecal

RWtools: look in the pull-down-menu.

I used rwtools to create the route (i.e had to input the long and lat in rwtools) i also used rwtools to convert the kml file (or klm, i'm not at my railwokrs pc so cant remember) and create the blueprint for the routemarkers.

I used rwdecal and google earth to create the decals. Sorry i get confused sometimes with decals, my entire route is saved as a kml file before it goes into rwtools, then its converted to a dcsv file? the decals are lots of files situated in the kml or newly created dcsv file? am i correct?

Hi

The RailWorks shot was what I was cryptically referring to earlier.

Cheers

Ok Chris.
Now I do understand your procedure :)
I never used dscv before.
Your route is a kml file > that's very ok

I convert the kml to CSV with the free converter > http://kmlcsv.sourceforge.net
Before I used Excel and then Calc (Open Office).

Decals are square pieces from f.i. Google Earth, taken by RWDecal.
Don't take or use to many decals at ones... :
- calculations can take a long time
- your video card has to have anough power and memory using all those decals in the RW Editor.

IMHO: decals are mainly used for the scenery.
(but for tracks too he)

Here is my "doings"
Serie markers
Named markers
KML file
CSV file
RWTools > developer (you) directories set up and route template
RWDecal > decals for the scenery.

I guess if you are using only RWdecal you need only the begin coordinates
and the ending one of the route.
Markers are never in a straight or in a "smooth" line.
With decals you can work almost perfect.

I make Serie Markers (and Named Markers) with indeed Google Earth, Chris.

I look in Google Earth for my route, the track.
Every 50 meters I put a yellow (Google) marker on the track so you have a serie of markers.
This serie makes the KML file.

There are other ways but I am used to this procedure.
In the begin RWdecal was not yet in use.
Jim did make or released his RWdecal after RW or (RS ?)was on the market he.
(RWDecal is a blessing)

Good afternoon everyone,

As i said above, i decided to start from scratch again and read the manual provided with rs_tools.

I followed everything to the letter, my new route shows up correctly with nice green grass, the long and lat that it displays are also correct, and i then used rs_tools to convert my kml file (for my route markers) straight to DCSV. It told me that the route.bin and route.dcsv should be located in my assets folder under RouteMarkers, so off i went and checked and they are correctly placed there.

I load up Railworks, go into the editor for my route, i make sure 'route markers' is ticked and i also go into my developer folder and ensure that my route has a nice green tick next to that. Both are possitive but i dont have any markers down on the green grass.

Help?
