Points on Junction not rendering

Post by msey0002 »

Hi, I have a problem with the points on a particular junction on my route not rendering. It is just the one junction, a simple one in a siding diverging into another siding, nothing I do seems to make it correct.

Another problem I have is that I cant seem to make a smaller bend on the track, any bends I attempt to make curve very slowly, like on a High Speed line, when I want a much sharper bend since I am laying track in a siding. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

thanks in advance

1. Make sure you are using the same track rule when laying the primary and diverging routes.

2. Use a different line type within the track rule to achieve the radius of curvature you want. For example, try the freight of yard line types. Or make your own track rule.

More than just using the same track rule (ideally you should only be using one track rule for any one route) diverging tracks across a junction must be of the same track type to render correctly

Thanks for your replies, Richard and Steve :)

Yes indeed, I found out about the line type only after I posted. It's a funny thing, I am using the IoW Rusty track exclusively, no other track. However, all the junctions are coming out as the clean IoW track, no idea why

Manual Junctions...how can I get the correct lever to show up? Currently I get the horrible orange example lever, yet I can't find any levels in the world editor

on the red triangle where the point starts break the track with the split tool make sure the levers are ticked in the very bottom box then weld and the levers will appear. However this will not work with slips for some reason when you split them inrenders the slip into its component parts and will not re weld them!

Hi Tony, and thanks very much for your reply.

The levers are already there, but the wrong type of levers, the levers that are showing up are the orange 'example' ones, when i am after the IoW ones. Is it possible to replace them? I tried editing the track.bin, which replaced the example levers into milk bottles

EDIT: Forgive and ignore this post! Your method has worked Tony, thanks very much :)

Terrain

Post by msey0002 »

One more question, just one more question (I hope!).

Is there a faster and neater way to do the thin strip of ballast coloured terrain running along the length of the tracks in a faster and neater way?

Just a gentle bump, wondering if anyone can help me in this, please? :)

I would suspect this is due to there being no pointwork texture for the IOW Rusty or IOW pier track. Therefore, if you make pointwork with these types of track, the system uses the default texture for the pointwork which is IOW "Clean" track.

Thanks for your reply, Mark, thought as such :). I think I will keep the rusty track, as it's much closer to the real thing, gives a good representation and all that. The pros outweigh the cons.

I wonder, if you know of a way to paint the track side terrain (to give an imitation of ballast) quickly and neatly?

For the IOW Network route, just use the normally supplied tools, but it does take a bit of time to get the hang of them. As for colours that is down to personal choice. You can always erase your "painting" by selecting the paint brush tool, but not selecting a "colour" if you then act as though you are painting then previously applied "paint" will be erased where you move the brush. You can then start again. I usually find it easier to do if you are looking directly down on the track and have it running left to right across the screen. This makes easier to control the mouse, I find. Also it is a long and boring operation, so do a bit then go do something else, like add the fences or vegetation, and come back to painting some more trackbed later. I tend to do about 100m at a time.

Thanks for that Mark, will try your way. You're right, it is a boring process, and my route is only roughly 20mile long, wonder how people manage to paint 80mile routes

Whoa there. :o :o

Look down on the track as described but move the ground underneath the cursor using the arrow keys, rather than moving the cursor over the ground using the mouse. I usually use a 25 brush and whizz along with gravel track bed, then go back along each side with gravel track grass and usually back along each side once again with bare grass... You can cover a lot of ground really quickly this way.
