Witham to Maldon route

I have started work on a new line from Witham to Maldon in Essex. It was about 6 miles long and closed in the mid 60's. I am trying to build it as authentic as reasonable, but being a "newboy" I know there is a lot of work to do. In the last 8 months of using Railworks I have enjoyed seeing the superb outputs, like Devon Banks, of others. However, whilst I can use the assets that others have created, the idea of creating new ones is too daunting. So! I would like someone to offer to create the fine brick Station building at Maldon (actually Maldon East), and the timber trestle bridge(s) on the route. They both still exist and I can supply photos and other info.

So far the main track is laid and some rivers and canals in place. It is to be set in the 1950's. More news as it develops.

Hi Malcolm.

Good to hear that another East Anglia branch is in the offing. I had this branch down as one I would have liked to see built (might you go through to Woodham Ferrers in the end?) and, if I ever finish my Hadleigh route, I too could try an Essex branch line slightly to the North/East of yours. (Jam permitting  )

Good luck, (Try posting in the Scenery Creation forum about trying to get a model of Maldon East built. I'd also put a screenshot up of the station building so people know what you are looking for. It might be that you get more success later on once people can see how much of the route you have built).

Regards

Hi David

I did think about the Maldon Ferrers branch as well and I have created the triangle links to the north of Maldon East together with the bridges over the canal and River Blackwater and a short section of the cutting to Maldon West. I plan to complete the link to Witham first and issue that before adding the other route. At my present rate that is going to take perhaps 6 months. Of course there is also the link to Braintree from Witham.

I will try your other suggestion to get the station and bridges constructed.
Regards

So far I have "built" the terrain, laid all the track, and the major parts of the 4 stations. The landscaping of the intermediate areas is taking time and having seen some views of lines like the Cornwall Clay route I have lots to do to fill in properly. I am aiming for reasonably high accuracy. It's based in the late 1950's (amazing how much trackwork changed over a few years).

A few screenshots of Maldon East at present. Your comment and advice would be very welcome.

Comment number 1 would be that you mustn't put spaces in screenshot file names :)

Or, if you do, then put in %20 where the space is when linking to your atomic album as I have done above (click on "quote" and you will see what I have done).

Nice screenshots by the way. Did you get anywhere with your request for help about the station building?

Thanks for correcting the screenshot names David. I did seem to have to work a fair bit on understanding how to post them and I still got something wrong.

Thanks for your positive comment and no, unfortunately, noone has offered yet. I could post some images of the wooden viaduct and the Maldon East station building if it would help. Both of them exist and are an historic listed structure/building.
