Re: RW2 and Speed Limit Signs
Being a railway simulator, track tends to appear at all detail levels.

Re: RW2 and Speed Limit Signs
I understand that speeds must be set just before track is laid. Has anyone made signs showing say 15, 25, 35, 50 &c. so that they can be placed beside the track but not show on the driving HUD ?.

Re: RW2 and Speed Limit Signs
How can speed limits be set before any track is laid? The speed limit is a property of the track and is specified in the track properties window. Placing a speed sign generated a link from the speed sign which is placed onto the track. The speed sign then grabs the speed denoted in the track properties and displays it on the sign; thus only one model is required for every possible speed.Barden wrote:I understand that speeds must be set just before track is laid. The new HUD detects speed signs and displays them as speed limits in the track ribbon.

Re: RW2 and Speed Limit Signs
The manual has it that speed is displayed on a speed sign based on the properties of the track - which I understand.
It also allows change of primary and secondary speeds by selecting track for placement and changing the properties before laying the track.
What I am after is a set of `dummy` speed signs to be placed as and where I wish.

Re: RW2 and Speed Limit Signs
So you want signs that don't link to the track? Is that what you're after? Otherwise there are signs in core which work as explained in the manual.

Also you can edit the the track properties at any time after they have been laid. pressing the spacebar in the editor cycles through the different properties - CAUTION, leave a decent pause when moving through the different options. cycling too quickly can cause a SBHH Error
IIRC speed limits are the second press.

you must set link to other piece of track and hide it in the ground.

Re: RW2 and Speed Limit Signs
Yes gypbrc that`s what I would prefer but malkymackay`s suggestion would give me the best option - when I can get it to work!.
I use Bath Wood Old (freight) for all my trackwork. I placed `Speed Sign York` on the track which shows "70" - as expected but how do I change this to say "15" and would I have to set this for each track length up to a change of speed?
Be patient with an old timer

Re: RW2 and Speed Limit Signs
It shows 70 'as expected' because this is the speed limit that you have set for that section of track (in this case, 70mph is the default for that particular track). Turnouts and some sharper corners will have lower speed limits, such as 15mph. In the cases where the track has a lower speed limit, you need to edit the properties of the track such that its speed limit of 15mph. Placing a speed sign on that stretch of track would then show 15mph.

Thanks Richard
The answer is somewhere in those two videos which I have now viewed, but they are much too small and fast for my tired old eyes

Click the video when it's playing and it will take you to Youtube to watch it. Then when it's playing double-click (left click) and the video will play full screen. You can pause it by clicking the screen or by pressing the pause/play button in the bottom left of the screen.
