Railway Article Index

Post by rivimey »

At the recent Peterborough Model Exhibition I came across a database called the International Railway Index, created by Gerald Wildish. Please note I am not connected to Gerald in any way, and am passing on information in the hope it is useful, nothing more.

It is an index of articles about railways compiled over 30ish years. It seems to me that this might well be useful for those researching a real route, especially historical routes. Selected quotes from the pamphlet:

"The aim of the International Railway Index is to provide, on CD, a database of all articles on prototype railway subjects from all magazines (including model magazines) across the world from 1897 to the present day."

"Version 8 has its own database reader and operates on the Windows platform using Microsoft's Access. .... there is also an Excel version for users of Apple Mac machines. Since version 6 the historical notes from 1825 have been attached to most countries."

"The price of the current Worldwide edition ... remains at £20 incl. postage".

I hope this is of interest. Contact Gerald at:
