Great for those building older routes it seems google earth now includes aerial photos from 1945. it doesn't cover much of the UK but i'm sure some people will find it very usefull, especially in conjunction with RWDecal.
To use it you have to click the clock at the top of the google earth window, then a slider appears, which moved to the left moves back. If your area is not covered then you won't be able to move back to 1945, but if you zoom out you should then be able to see what areas of the UK are covered.
Hope it helps someone!

Re: Google Earth 1945
I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this a few weeks back. It seems that the coverage is mainly in the North East of England. Very useful when trying to figure out where the various works were in Consett.
Expanding the TS wagon fleet.

Very annoyed to discover that a large chunk of the West Country that ive already done is online.
Very interesting indeed, thanks for flagging it up.

Not the part of the North east that I'm interested in it seems - earliest date for Otley, Harrogate and Wetherby is 2002, while Leeds is 1999.malkymackay wrote:I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this a few weeks back. Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.
