Hi there...
If there's anyone who's bought the GARL route, could this person or persons, please tell me if they've ventured into the asset set, and tried placing any of the modern colour-light signals onto a route of their own making ? I've done this already, and have found that all seem to work fine, apart from the feather-type signals.
I received a response to a message yesterday, from a person associated with the GARL production, and, while it was exceedingly nice of him to do this, I just can't seem to get the feather light rows to extinquish on these signals. In the case of even the signals that inform a driver of a possible double right-divirsion, with it's angled feather-lights, and the horizontal lights beliw the first ones, if you know what I mean. Has anyone here, tried these signals out yet, and had any problems with the feather types not turning the light rows off when the signals are set to straight-ahead, or a train passes a signal with a feather turned on ?
This may seem complicated, but it should be simple to make these signals behave as they should, when a train passes, and the feathers turn off, and the signal returns to the danger indication. But no matter what I do, these light rows (feathers) will not go off at all. The signal does change, or it gives different indications in varying circumstances, as it should. I apologise for not seeming "intelligent" enough to work out what the person, Allan, I think, said in his response to my message, but it might need a wee bit more in the manner of detailed information as to these feather lights, and how they operate... UNLESS... I just might have a corrupted or faulty set... who knows ? Cheers.

Re: GARL Colour light (feather-type) signals...
hi
i think your problem is that the left feather is 1to 3 in the box you tick ,feathers for right is 4to 6 you tick , so you put number 1in to box 2 wich is the 1st feather on the left of the singel and so on if you dont put the right number in the right box the feather will
stay on (ther is a pull out box on the right when you click on the singel with boxs in it )

Thanks for that info. It does seem to make a lot of sense in how it works out, the manner in which you described it. I did have the IDs set, but as you set iy out, there really wasn't (that I could see) anywhere to tick things, apart from an 'x' being placed in the two boxes to the right, on whichever flyouts had these. I did manage to get at least two feather signals workubg properly, so the feather turned off if the signal was changed to the mainline indication, from the branching display. And I checked the flyout boxes, and sure enough, the numbers were in the right range for left & right junction signals, but others wouldn't behave themselves, and I did discover that the feathers seemed not to work unless you placed one of those single grids alongside the junction signal in question, but I still have further testing to do first - and your info certainly gives me more food for thought ! Shame that Railsimulator.com didn't put any actual instructions for these new signals, or totalizeMedia (?) could have done it if they produced these signals themselves, as it's obvious that folks would want to utilise these signals in their own routes at some stage, but it's not exactly fair that they rush things out, without the full documentation first, so you knew exactly how to use things properly. But then, that's half the fun, trying to get things working, yourself ! Cheers.

Actually, I did print the manual out myself, in colour as well, but failed to actually see anything useful regarding this query, it's probably the stroke I had last year, that must have affected me in my concentration, somewhat, so, if you don't mind my asking, could you possibly clarify for me, what page, what you referred to, is on, so I can check for myself, and see what this does for me, as it may well help me here, and if I know exactly where to look, It'll be that much easier. Ta for that !

Re: GARL Colour light (feather-type) signals...
hi,
No problem. page 8 shows the relationship of the feathers to the track link numbers.
Now, if only I could get the ID1 and ID2 to work. Can get them to work on a signal in the GARL route and change the signal plate identification but not on a signal i place on my play route.
We all have our trials and tribulations.
some more info, if you haven't found it yet....

Hi,
First off I would like to thank everyone who has purchased our GARL add-on DLC and for your continued support. Until RS.com provide more detailed general documentation on new signalling, I thought it would be helpful to answer this question in regard to our own new signals.
GARL Signalling Assets Configuration
I can confirm that you are allowed to use any of the new assets from GARL for your own route creation projects as long as you do not re-distribute them in any way. However you can share new routes and scenarios that reference the new assets as long as the actual assets themselves are not included. This means that whoever you send new routes to need to already have purchased a copy of GARL for your new route to operate. Any use or reference to our game assets is completely prohibited for payware and commercial projects. The best way to see how the signals are configured is to check in the RailWorks Route Editor how the GARL signals are setup in the setup dialog boxes. You open these dialog boxes by double-clicking on the signal posts in the editor (not the signal heads and you'll probably need to zoom-in).
--------------------------------------------
A quick summary is:
- ID1 = Signal Area Code (top line of number plate up to 4 characters)
- ID2 = Signal Number (bottom line of number plate up to 4 digits)
The other dialog boxes are route link specific (only apply to individual routes set ahead of the signal)
- Char = This is the Feather/Route Indicator or Theatre Character
For Feathers/Route Indicators use a number from 1 - 6 (see the GARL manual for an explanation of numbering conventions). For Theatre Characters you can use any single digit number or letter from the alphabet in upper case.
- Spd = Ignore - This is currently only used for the new RS.com German Signals
- App = Check this box to apply flashing approach control to this individual route (the flashing takes place on the one or two signals prior to this signal and limits this signal to a single yellow)
- Limit = Limits this signal to a single yellow for this individual route
--------------------------------------------
It is worth noting that in addition to our new enhanced UK signals there are also custom designed signals for GARL for unique locations (these are listed in the editor as custom.....). These custom signals are not flexible and are best ignored for new routes.
I hope everyone enjoys this new functionality.
All the best
