Pennine route
OK, I have started building the route, the line Starting At Standedge Tunnel going into Huddersfield set in the 1950's or 60's, but I am having problem acquiring gradient profiles which are key to route building, and until I can get them I cannot really start, any ideas where I could get my hand on some for this section. Once I get started I will include some screenshots. This is where the video "Pennine steam" will come in handy

Re: Pennine route
The gradient profile is included in the route builders bible, Chapter 1 verse 24!
The route builders bible is the "British Rail - Main Line Gradient Profiles" book published by Ian-Allen.
You may be able to get hold of either a second hand or new copy here: http://www.roberthumm.co.uk/

Re: Pennine route
well i found some gradients during the video "pennine steam" so its full steam ahead, it may not be 100% accurate especially with the lack of plans etc, but anyways marsden station is taking shape

still very much a wip

Re: Pennine route
I think I have this video at home too. Is it then one that shows the line that includes huddersfield and shows a stretch of the line with the canal going over the line just as the track enters a tunnel?
This would be great for steam, a nice long heavy freight having to stop on the viaduct as in the later years the track was single going through the tunnel!!

Re: Pennine route
Hi looking really good - just one observation - in the last but one set of pics, last pic, there is a track that goes off to the right and appears to use 2 different types of track for the point - might cause you a few issues later. great looking route though!

I've only ever seen Stanedge Tunnel in photos, but from the looks of things you've captured it really wellmetrobus wrote:A bit of work around stanedge Tunnel

Re: Pennine route
This seems a great route indeed and that is one of my fave steam videos! I like the clips on the steep gradient double headed 9Fs!! hehe you have captured this route brilliantly and I look forward to driving big oil trains over that route. Great work! Would be nice to recreate the huge viaduct on that line
