Questions about route building

Post by sanyix »

Hi, I have two questions for now:

-is it possible to place overhead wire catenary(NOT the wire itself, but the support of wires) along the track? I didn't saw a tool for this in route editor.
-Why krstool2 says that it can't find routes.xml or it's empty? There isn't and wasn't any file named like this in my railworks, i've started a search over the whole rw directory including subdirectories, but 0 hits found.

Hi,

Click on the Track Infrastructure Icon ( signal) and select O Wire Gantry Tool, that will allow you to add the wire supports.

Sorry can't help you with question 2

thank you, i've found it :) (i searched it as a "real" tool, not as an object what's behavior is a tool :) ). By the way, are there any other special object like this?

is there any tutorial for signaling (if it's possible, of german hp signaling) in rw? Not like the ones on youtube, where they put down 1 junction, and make a signal for it, or put down some signals (and you cant see exactly what they put down).

How can i lower the gantries on a route (because gantry tool always put it too high), or how can i config the gantry tool to put the gantries lower? I've tried krstool, it can lower those, but it also resets every resizeable asset (tunnel hole, water) to default size, which is not so good.

Hi,

Just select the gantry with your mouse and press the J key on your keyboard, it will lower them to ground level

ehh one by one? That needs a lot of time... By the way, the ground level is still not the correct level, the correct level depends from wires.

Holding down the control key while clicking you can select multiple assets, and yes you have to manually position every gantry to match the wires.

That's why route building takes an age.

Unfortunately although the gantry tool will align the pylons correctly the heights and sometimes offset are wrong. Afraid you do need to adjust each one individually for height and so the arm touches the upper section of the catenary. Long, tedious and slow process and somehow while working with the overheads I just can't get that Indian railway video "nasty" out my head...

Noone heard about krstool? It does this thing with all catenaries (or with any objects in rw), in 2 minutes. I asked for another solution, because the krstool have a bug, when you manipulate the scenery with it, all resizeable assets (water, tunnel entrance hole) will be reset to default size. But to correct these is max 30 min, but to correct catenary height is several hours, so i'll use krstool anyway, since there isn't better solution.
