Hi Ryan. It looks like you're off to a good start.
Will you be making some scenarios that come with it as well?
Will the route and/or scenarios require specific add-ons, or just default-stock?
I know you mentioned you're in early stages of things, and you're probably excited to share some of what you have done so far. Myself, I've recently started on a fictional route along with a couple of scenarios as well, but I think I'll wait until I have a bit more work done on things before sharing any screen-shots.
As you know in early stages, as in what I see from your screen-shots, the route can look a bit bare until other things like hills, lakes, rivers, trees, fences, cars, people, clutter, different textures on the ground, etc... are added to make it look more interesting and alive.
As far as if I will release my route as freeware or payware... I'm thinking more along the lines that if I go ahead and host the files on my own site, and if I'm spending tons of hours of work to create this route and scenarios (I've already invested about 60+ hours so far on my current route & scenarios), but since it's still my first route, that chances are I'll release it as freeware... however I may add a little "donate" option on my site, so if people like my route and scenarios, enjoy it and want to give me a little something to thank me for my efforts, then I may do it that way.
Best of luck with your route. Keep up the good work and give us some more updates in a while when it's shaped up more.

Thanks for the comments, I will be keeping an eye out for your route

I am thinking more towards the freeware release - I don't think I am ready for a full payware project, I am aiming to use default assets with a few optional payware asset scenarios. I will be including some scenarios with the route I wouldn't like to say a fixed number at this stage.
I will provide more information on assets required closer to the release date, but I would like to use Ben Laws class 390 Pendolino, and Just Trains Voyager addon, I will provide the payware scenarios also include a copy of the scenario using default assets so it can be used "out the box".

Cool Nice to see a new route. However I dont think the castle lends itself to being postioned right next to the bridge like that. Other than that keep going.

Cheers, I'll look into the castle, my idea was to make it look like the castle had been their before the bridge, but now you said that, I don't know - I don't really fancy moving the bridge so its the castle that might move.
*** EDIT ***
I am in the process of moving the castle as I type this. Images will be uploaded in the next update - either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Also why does Railworks think it is so funny to reset Painting tools Snap option??? this is the 5th time now I have had to lower the castle area.....

Yes, there does seem to be a few little annoying things with the editor.. sometimes doing something seems to work right, then for no apparent reason it doesn't work the way you want it to. But then again, it could be a part of still becoming more familiar with certain aspects of using the editor.
Myself, I'm mainly having trouble with setting up manual-junctions with a working signal-light for a scenario.. that will show Red if the junction is set to lead to one to the right-side track, and green if its set to lead to the left-side track. Sometimes it seems to work great. Then all of a sudden for no apparent reason it stops working. Arrrgh! Talk about frustrating. Hehehe.
Just have fun in creating your route. Use your imagination and creative side and see what you can come up with. Like you say, its a fictional route, so it doesn't have to adhere to any particular scheme. Your bridge looks nice, and I know it can be tricky to set-up certain structures like that and to work with the track and terrain the way you want. Your bridge area may look a bit better if you add a different texture other than just grass underneath, and then fill-up that area with water. But I realize that your screen-shots are showing early stages of your WIP, so you're probably sure to add more of those kinds of details and changes and you continue to work on it.
You mentioned you may be interested to see something of my project. I've recently made a thread for it, you can find at the following link:

Keep working on your project, and give us an update on it's progress sometimes.

Sorry for the late update and lack of images, but I have been been laying main line track, still a bit short in length but it's coming along slowly. but It is no longer nameless.... "High Speed Country Line (HSCL)". Images will come soon, when it is not so green... Oh and I have also made changes to the castle, I moved it away from the viaduct a bit and changed the asset, images in next big update maybe. Still very green
*** START EDIT 13/12/2009
An update of current progress on the route, See the images below for changes, updates and even new unseen areas. BUT a slight change to what I said about required assets, You will need the Isle of Wight add-on to use the route as the IOW has some assets which I required - reading these forums for a long time has led me to beleive that most people have got the IOW route. Ok, time for a visual update, as I type this the images are being uploaded to photobucket so I can link to them.
HERE WE GO!
Images of Main Line Areas
Station NOT in use - Scenery purposes Only
New Station - Few minutes down the Line
Images of Small local commuter lines
You might have noticed on one of the images there was a brick wall blocking the track, that is not where the route will finish, its just the termination point is for this stage of development. I will go past that point after beta testing and feedback, and when I have added the scenery and anything else.
Also keep checking my Photobucket (
http://s590.photobucket.com/albums/ss34 ... 29-11-2009) and also my Blogger Page (
http://ryant001.blogspot.com/) the Photobucket will have the images and the Blogger will contain information on the route before the information is added to here.

Looks like you're continuing to work hard on your project. Its really growing and you have a good amount of locations set-up.
If I may suggest, try to perhaps add some "randomness" in various locations, as well as different textures on the ground in some spot spots, some hills in places, trees, bushes, grass, clutter, etc... it would make things look a lot more alive, more lived-in and less plain. Of course I realize you're still working on things and you will probably get around to adding more things like that anyways.
Keep up the good work. I'll be looking forward to give your route a go when you have it released.

I really recommend adding scenery as you go. It will save you from boredom later.

I tried that, I got bored. I decided that after laying the track I will go back and do the scenery an area at a time. to when its all done to a basic level go back and tidy it up.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will be playing around with adding hills and textures at a later date, I am just trying to get the track laid as a guide for the scenery and I have got some ideas which I will be playing around with, I'll have a play with the scenery and add some "randomness" this week and Im aiming to make each area look different to another where I can, There will be some connecting areas which will look more or less the same.

I have just updated my blogger.
Here is the update without images, Blog has image of the 390 on my route.
"Time for today's update.
I have got a bit of scenery done, I have extended the track a bit more (screenshots soon) I think I am going to use some freeware items which are available on UKTrainSim. I will give a lost of what you will need when I have complied it(In other words, when I know myself).
I did see some rather good looking signs on UKTrainSim by JADsHome the other day so I will be having a play with them.
Now that the 390 Pendolino has been released I think I should see if it looks at home on my route. So here we go!
Well I think it will have a home on the route. Well Done to Ben Laws for developing such a great add-on"
