Webb Cauliflower Preview

Post by 92212 »

I've been privileged over the last few days to put together some sounds for Phil Baines'(eyore) Cauliflower 0-6-0 for the CKPR. It's not an easy task considering we don't actually know what one sounded like. So we've gone for using sounds from a loco of similar 'vintage' hoping to give the right impression!

Below is a preview:

It's all WIP.

Loved them sounds already. I like the way the wind sounds differently depending on the position of your head inside the cab :D

(Lovely locomotive, by the way)

Excellent work. Are the sounds based on an SECR C 0-6-0 per chance? It sounds quite a lot like the one on the Bluebell.

It would seem you have become the goto man on steam sound Matt, congratulations for attaining such a position ;). Considering we don't have any real examples the sounds are surprisingly fitting and suit the locomotive even as WIP soundset. Well done and its good to see another steamer being brought to life and to Railworks.

Is the whistle from Maude aswell, or is it from the only other working LNWR loco that super "D" thingy they have at the NYMR :)

The whistle is also from Maude. I didn't think of the super D! That would've been good for accurate sounds! I don't think there are any on steamsounds though.

Nice one Matt, the sounds suit it very well.

I recorded the Super D during the MHR Autumn Gala, I have 2 clips of it at Alresford, one light engine starting up to move to the other platform, then a departure with the goods. Just as it goes under the signal there's a very short peep of the whistle, I've realised it doesn't peep that much

Anyway, if there's something you can do with it, drop me a PM as per.

One thing to bear in mind is that the Super Ds have a very distinctive sound - it's probably better to stick to a 'generic' 0-6-0 sound as per se?
