Thanks for your comment Keith.
I cannot work with a sub standard Editor compared to what it used to be. It would seem that RSC are only interested in pushing out new DLC and then even failing to repair faults in that before the next lot comes out. I do not think this Route Editor problem will be fixed because it is not making any money. I feel RSC are getting it wrong at the moment and have been for some considerable time now.
Kind regards James.

I use the live version to build in, S to C at the moment, so the redraw of lofts is a pain, though not to bad on my route as I don't use that many.
The fix for this is in beta and will be put out soon. (I don't have a hard date, but soon I hope)

regards

Derek

Thank you Derek. Your post is much appreciated. That gives me a little more hope for the future. I do use a lot of lofts on my Route so it has been a major problem. I also hope that the crashing when painting Textures can also be fixed. I last had this problem in RW1. It is however not predictable and seems to happen at random.
Kind regards James.

A quick update. Both new Sections are nearly finished now apart from Speed Limits and Track Properties which will be done when the Loft Display fix is out. There will be a lot of testing, tweaking and some new Scenarios. The optimistation has not yet been done because I do not understand the new Lighting system yet and there seems to be some problems with lights being on in the daytime or not always being on at night. Any pointers on this would be appreciated. I have not posted any Screens because my health has not been at it's best recently and I want to concentrate on building the Route and getting it out there before I pop my Clogs. You tend to think more about your mortality as you get older :o
Kind regards James.

Thanks for the update James! I don't think anyone is really bothered about the lack of screenshots lately, your health is most important and I and many others wish you the best of health! I'm sure you've still got years left in you! :D

I couldn't agree more, Andrew. Nothing's more important than your health. Do what you can when you're able to, James, and no more! Nobody will be affected by a delay that is only on a timetable you've set yourself.

Thanks for your kind comments Andrew and Keith they are much appreciated. While I am waiting for the Update I may get 3D Canvas going and make some Station Signs. I just need to find out how to avoid having glowing objects. Not sure if it is a one off global adjustment or if it is something you have to do to each part of the object as you construct it.
Kind regards James.

Hmmm... Yes, glowing objects. I'm working on an early-morning scenario for S&Cv7 and when the sun comes up some objects (plants) light up much too much, looking like they have a high-powered internal light source! Until the surroundings brighten to match it looks very peculiar.

Just looking at Portals again. I have one on the new section from Winwick Junction that goes towards Earlstown Station. This in real life goes through Rainhill to Huyton where I have another Portal linking the line to Liverpool. I am tempted to join these up with Track.
I love laying Track but maybe this is a step to far, about 10 miles altogether. I could put it in with no scenery as a test I suppose and the do it after I release the new sections. :-? :-? :-?
It all depends on how soon RSC releases the Loft Display Fix because I can't do much more when using the Spacebar takes ages to come up with the Track Properties and frequently with an SBHH.
Kind regards James.

I suppose all you can do James is do what you can with scenery assets and sort the loft and track detail and properties when the fix arrives.

Regards

Phil
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the reply. I will be doing much as you suggested.
Because of the large amount of Track on the Route setting the properties in nigh on impossible.
I have therefore laid down the Track and placed the Platforms of all Stations on this new Rainhill Section.
Next is the Signals and Bridges If the fix comes quickly I will maybe release it first with this new section unfinished. If RSC can do it and I can't remember which Route it was ,I could always make the excuse that this is for individual users to add their own Scenic Items :D
Kind regards James.

Just had a major shock. I was moving a Coal Unloader and went to save and the whole Program froze. Came out and the Route would not load any Scenario or in the Edit Mode. So I replaced the Tracks .bin File from Backup it was larger than the current one by about 3 mb so I can assume the .bin file was faulty?
The Route now loads again. I wonder if anyone else has encountered this problem and also wonder if replacing the tracks.bin has put everything right.
Would I have to replace any other files??
The Unloader is attached to the Track so I would assume this was the right thing to do.
Kind regards James.

Hi James,

If you have restored a backup of the tracks.bin then if it was me I would also restore the whole tracks folder.

Your call though. I have experienced crashes on save that have corrupted my track database file. As with you I restored the tracks.bin but I also restored the track folder.
