This is Somerset...

Post by august1929 »

Small and (nearly)perfectly formed. Meshtools ESR. Only 2.5 miles but very nice at that.

This line is only about 10 miles away from me and it is instantly recognisable. Definitely Somerset and very beautiful for that.
Nice range of steam, some very nice new scripting (light from firebox when it is opened being just one). Some very nice new assets as well...

I must say, this is one of the best routes I have ever seen. Won't be buying though, lack of funds and not my cup of tea, but well done, absolutely beautiful

Indeed, very nice...the rusty water tower is stunning too! :D

Bit of a shame about the diamond crossing though.

The water tower looks in a better condition then when i was last their :P

Will be getting it at end of the week. Mostly due to first really local preserved railway (WSR was other but 20miles away) compare to 6 and first one i volunteered on.

But it does look fantastic and great screens.

Seeing some screenshots has made me resist temptation and buy this one, mostly for the wonderful track! Unlike the IOW track, the sleepers remain 3D where points are placed.
Having purchased it I am now also impressed with the steam effects when pulling away with Cylinder Cocks open.
My only disappointment was the lack of anything in the 3F cab.

Anyway I decided to bring in a visitor for this one...

I'd love to know how they're doing that!(looks like some very good alpha texturing? or maybe manual placement?

thanks,

It does seem to add a lot to the look of the scenery! 3d sleepers look far nicer than the 2d textures most sceneries have.

As far as I can work out, these must be manually placed. I don't think you can have 3d sleepers automatically placed under pointwork...

thanks

Has nobody been into the route editor and selected them? They do look like manual placement though in the way they overlap. If not, its an excellent advance but I worry that over the course of a much larger route, it would destroy fps.

Lovely shots above though, looks like a nice little route.

I've seen the video, I've seen the pics.. Not a fan of that steam effect. Can't quite put my finger on it but it just doesn't look right.. Or real...
