After tinkering around with my old DVT model, seeing if I could fix the mountains of smoothing/modelling errors, I've come to this:

Tankski, brilliant looking render indeed! I've seen you post before about smoothing errors, perhaps you could enlighten me what these are?
Many thanks

They're artifacts in the way the model is displayed, it shows ridges and other weird things on the model if lit under a specular light. They can be beneficial it seems but very rarely.

Fixed it a bit more, this is the current state of the model (parts that have been checked over and are in-game)

Many thanks Mark, I'm trying to get this to a decent enough quality for a release - hopefully something near enough the quality of my BAA wagon. I'm not in the position to make a cab for it so unfortunately it'll be aliased to the HST cab. :(

I don't think there will be many complaining about that, David, the controls aren't too far off. Personally, I think it's great that you are still doing it, well done :)

Just the fact that you are still building it is fantastic David, i think RW is desperate for a DVT and i for one will not be fussed that it has the HST cab!

Keep up the good work mate.

Cheers,
Terrone.

I maybe suggesting heresy here, but you could always just leave the DVT without a cab and flag it ingame as rolling stock instead of a locomotive unit abit like how a brake van is for the kettles. Yes, yes, I know DVTs had the automated system which allowed them to drive from the cab, but I'm thinking from a practical point of view for Tankski, if he wishes to release it, as he said, decent enough quality for release and isn't so happy about aliasing a cab then that is another option.

Okies, I'll tie my hands an provide the oil so you can put me on the pyre now

It's definetely a viable alternative, at least for the near future. It would make scenarios on the WCML so much more realistic.
