Anyway, here is where I'm at with the grubby 31. I think I'm in love with it. Little things left and gotta track down that annoying anomaly on the lower front corner of the cab.

they always look better dirty :D
nice work by the way :)
Indeed looking great and the texture you after (if thats the steps) its to the right of the main texture near the bottom (i think its under the front) and its just a square with some bits around it and some shading inside of it)
Hiya..

I was speaking of this area.

Which after doing the rainbow technique I use, I found out why this is happening. For whatever reason, that little section is mapped from an entirely different section of the texture.

That looks very nice Trainguy. I must have a go at building a US locomotive sometime.

On the subject of finding parts of a texture when repainting I would like to share this with my fellow repainters. Its just an image to overlay the whole texture with to narrow down that elusive little patch you cant find. :)

you can download it from this site, take a look around when your there. Its a flight sim site but the tutorials and other help apply to RW2 in most cases too.

http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/ ... finder-40/

Its 1024x1024 but can of course be made any size.

Thanks for that, I know it will beenfit me hugely, as I have encountered problems with textures that I haven't a clue what they're for, and putting coloured dots can only do so much!

A bit more Taffy Tank :D
Ignore the wheels, they're just stretched wagon wheels (not the chocolate snack!) as placeholders.
