Looking very good.

Any chance that they could display the loco number in the headcode box, as they did in later days ?

How have you got on with sorting the gearbox

Hi Guys

Just spent the day in the cab of Western with Roger,Mark and crew of the Western association....... many many thanks guys and to the SVR team especially Cynthia and Martin.. fantastic assistance.

So I now have an overload of data on the operating nuances of the 52.. and a great set of the highest quality sounds.... now comes the hard part implementing all convincingly... but the results will be vetted by the Western Association team .

most enlightening day to date........ had a heap of fun too :D

On the gearbox specifically.. much easier to implement than anticipated... some years ahead of their time the Voith transmission.

hopefully we should finish up with an accurate ( beleivable) rendition

Outstanding Paul! A 52 is a tricky shape, and this is captured excellently. Looking forward to this one.

Looks very nice sly and a good varient of nameplates and colour schemes your including to. Its also nice that you got alot of support from the SVR, nice to see that really. Many years ago I met one of these on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway on a diesel gala, I say the shape is alittle quirky for a engine design but it grows on you really. The screenshots certainly do the real locomotive justice, and once again, thanks for bring a superb high quality model work to the community Sly, like all your products you keep it up to a impeccible standard.

I realise that this is a WIP shot, but as far as I'm aware none of the Westerns carried the maroon livery with full yellow end as seen second left
Also, D1015 for a short period had an unusual T-shaped yellow warning panel over Desert Ochre at one end only
Also, could we have the no yellow end (but yellow buffer area) maroon please as seen here which was a mainline livery - http://dieselhydraulics.photos.gb.com/p62483786.html and here with a modern shot to show colours better http://merlinsgallery.fotopic.net/p48485325.html
Is this the so called 'T-shaped' warning panel that foggy mentioned, but applied to the full Maroon livery?

Hi

The T shaped warning panel was applied to one end only of D1015 in Golden Ochre livery as seen here
Image

In there early days some of the class were painted in all over maroon with no yellow warning panel at all

Ahh OK, yes that is a completely different T-shape, never seen before :D Must have been an experiment worn for a short period of time, same as the ochre livery, I guess.
Thanks

This is, quite easily for me, the best looking model of the most handsome British diesel yet created for this (or any other) sim.

Paul, if the final model looks as good as the shots you've posted in this thread, then I'll have a new favourite loco :)

It's very easy to get sucked up into the maelstrom of enthusiasm for a new model, however, this *really* does look special -- the Paddington pics are simply brilliant.

Your ingenuity in dealing with the numbering/naming challenge is brilliant, a superb gift in itself -- one hopes that maybe this can be retro-fitted to your Peak when it gets its refurb...?

As to what colours to paint them all, that's a tricky one -- I personally would err towards their last days in service and have 'em all in the proper blue, however, I appreciate that there are some strange types who like other colours also ;)

Maybe a re-paint kit would be the answer?

Keep at it, chap :D

Enquiring minds and whatnot... :P

Hehe, you know what though? I'd be happy just with a retro Paddington and its approach and just sit there and watch AI Westerns, Warships and maybe a few Hoovers come and go
