6N69, the 1450 Scunthorpe - Tyne Yard Speedlink, rumbles along the Down Fast north of York. A HST flashes past on an Up express.

Nearly done with this scenario. Just a few bits of static AI to add in various sidings & run through several more times to make sure everything works ok. No problems so far, with 26 AI trains moving about, spread between York & Tyne Yard. All traffic is per the 1980-81 Working Timetable and uses typical formations, to the best of my knowledge.

I will say that a lot of payware is involved, 14 items at last count :o This may not please everyone, but I use what I've got to make the scenario as real as I can. If you don't have everything, there's always RW-Tools

Bring it on, Malky! :) I'm 100% behind your stance on the payware front

Thanks for your comments, Rik & Manuel. They are appreciated. There are also a fair few freeware requirements and just to make things more interesting it's a timetabled scenario with no service designated as the player train. You could therefore drive any of the services, though the AI is set up for one particular service. Driving the 'other' trains you will likely see static trains on the mainlines and the timings won't quite be accurate. I would avoid driving the Class 40 that leaves at the start of the scenario, as it's routing is not accurate due to ommisions from the default route :(

As an aside, I've just managed to get hold of the Sectional Appendix that was current around the time of the default Newcastle - York route (appendix is dated 03/02/79). The speed limits of the default route are even more inaccurate than I thought. Heading out of Newcastle starts ok with the 15mph in the station out to the north end of the KE Bridge, then 20mph for 1/2 mile. Then the real speed limits went 50mph for 176 yds, 60mph for 550 yds, 70mph for 418 yds, 105mph for 3/4 mile & then 110mph until a 1/4 mile north of Chester-le-Street. Northbound trains had a 1/4 mile 95mph step between the 105 & 70 limits.

2 more from my upcoming scenario using JT's new VGA vans:

6E91 Heysham - Haverton Hill trundles along the Down Slow north of Tollerton, while 6N69 is in the distance on the Down Fast line.

Seen from the 2nd Man's seat, a 101 heads south on a Darlington - York service.

Pretty much done now. Just have to sort out the readme and maybe run through the scenario one more time. I hope to have this uploaded in the next 24 hours. I've called it Autumn Speedlink, so you now know what to look out for
