SP 1940's-50's era Overnight Boxcars

Post by marr5 »

Image

The Southern Pacific Company black Overnight 40' Boxcars were used in the 1940's-50's from Los Angeles to San Francisco and Oakland California. Leaving Los Angeles Freight sheds after business hours, it carried LCL (Less Than Carload) freight behind Mountain and GS class engines, arriving in San Francisco at 8:45 a.m. The Black Overnight Boxcars were discontinued in the 60's when the silver variant Overnights went into effect.
