Today we are working 6B61, the Trostre - Margam Steel empties. The possession is still in place at Felin Fran so we will be working via the Mainline, Top n Tailed to save running round at Llandeilo jn and to assist the train up Cockett bank.

60091 leads 6B20 out of the Trostre reception sidings as the travelling shunter prepares to head to his next job.

Image

Slys excellent Hunslet shunter, propels the recently arrived, loaded coils into the works

Image

The train works down the connection line towards the Genwen Loop

Image

After a quick chat with the Bobby to confirm Routing, we are signalled onto the Genwen loop, where we will crawl at 10mph to Genwen Junction and onto the Up District.

Image

We pass under the A484 and Join the Up District. We will only be proceeding a short distance before changing ends and heading to Llandeilo jn to access the Mainline.

Image

'091 draws over Techan Fach farm crossing, slowing to halt before changing ends

Image

The Port Talbot "C" panel Signalman is on the ball today, we've got the road before we've climbed in the the trailing loco.

Image

And we're off again, running Bang road down to Llandeilo Jn

Image

Image

We draw onto the Mainline for a short stretch before curving onto the Up Goods where we will change ends again

Image

Image

Image

Not quite what we wanted but at least we arent stuck here.

Image

Image

We get held at PT257, probably waiting for Passenger service to come off the single line which runs from here to Cockett West Jn. Its hard to believe that this single line is the Mainline from Paddington!

Image

And we were right, an ATW 158 departs the single line on its way to Carmarthen

Image

Over Dyffryn West LC

Image

And we begin to slow here, ready for the 20 mph restriction on the Loughor Viaduct. the restriction exists for freight trains only, passenger services can maintain the 75mph linespeed. Its a very rickety structure in reality.

Image

And over Loughor viaduct ...

To be continued when RW is updated to allow me to lay more track!
